Many times a day, I look out my window to check the ocean. Sometimes I’m trying to decide which jacket and hat to wear for my walk with Tidda, but often I just feel a need to see what the ocean is up to. This is the biggest joy of living on the coast: No matter what you’re doing, you can glance towards the ocean and orient yourself in the universe.
A gigantic dark wall of clouds approaches, but there’s still an opening in the sky for sunlight, and for a few minutes this creates a shining sea of gold! I’m glad I took this picture from my window because by the time I made it down to the beach with my camera, the magic had already passed.
For over 12 years now, I’ve been living by the ocean. I’m still not able to read it like some crusty old sailor might and predict what’s coming, but my eyes have seen the many colors, I’ve felt the winds in my face, dodged the waves and communed with the ravens. I’ve smelled different salty seasons, found astonishing creatures and heard the great roar of the Pacific. And whenever I feel adrift and long for true north, my eyes will search out the sea.
Young lovers kiss passionately by Trafalgar Square Fountain. (Candid shot). This photograph was taken early in the afternoon, when the square was very crowded as usual. I therefore cropped the image to highlight the feel of sublime romance and isolation from the surrounding world. Trying to change the camera setting to work with the selective focus would have meant to miss the moment. I thought that a soft pink monochrome would suit the sweetness of this instant...

The True Grit of Dartmoor, as the Sun goes down behind Great Staple Tor it sends a lovely little Sunburst through a gap in the Huge Granite Rocks, with so much Myth and Legend, Dartmoor has to be one of my favourite places, and this one of my many favourite Tors to photograph.
With the Wildlife now easing off for me I shall be getting my eye back in on the Land/Seascapes over the next month or so, having said that I have hundreds of Wildlife pics to post so will be trying to keep my photostream content varied for all that follow my ramblings :)

Tortoiseshell Butterfly
The Tortoiseshell Butterfly is known for its vibrant and striking coloration. It typically features orange and black patterns on its wings, with hints of blue and white spots, making it easily recognizable.
Tortoiseshell Butterflies primarily feed on nectar from flowers such as thistles and buddleia. Their caterpillars mainly consume nettles, which is why these butterflies are commonly found in areas where nettles grow abundantly.

Let's be honest, the real gamers out there have rooms that look like this. That is actually what my trash can looks like. LOL
Larinus planus is a species of true weevil. It is used as an agent of biological pest control against the noxious weed Canada thistle (Cirsium arvense).
The adult weevil is dark brown or black with light colored mottled hairs on its body. It is about 7-8 millimeters long.
This weevil is native to Central and Eastern Europe. It was first accidentally introduced to the United States in the 1960s. The first published record is from Maryland in 1971. Postel, Belgium (wollige distelsnuitkever)
