"It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves."
William Shakespeare
Collecting the fruits from the Peanut Butter tree allowed me to create my own galaxy of stars. To those of us living in the United States of America, Happy Fourth of July as we celebrate our 249th year as a country. Let us also remember these words spoken by Carl Sagan....
"If we are not able to ask skeptical questions, to interrogate those who tell us that something is true, to be skeptical of those in authority, then, we are up for grabs for the next charlatan (political or religious) who comes rambling along."
True love never dies.

What is canola?
The oilseed packed with healthy oil, protein and potential
In a few decades, canola has become one of the world’s most important oilseeds and one of Canada’s leading crops. Today canola is a true “made-in-Canada” success story and the foundation of a thriving, sustainable industry.
The canola plant
One of the most widely grown crops in Canada, canola plants produce beautiful small yellow flowers which develop into pods, resembling pea pods. Each pod contains tiny black seeds, made up of about 45% oil. Once harvested, canola seeds are crushed to release the oil contained within the seed.
Canola grown in Canada belongs to the Brassica napus B. rapa or B. juncea species which belong to a much larger mustard family (Brassicaceae). Cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower are also part of this same botanical family.
The history of canola seed in Canada
Historical records indicate that rapeseed was cultivated as early as 2000 B.C.E. in India and introduced into China and Japan around 35 B.C.E. Documented use or that of a close relative appears in the earliest writings of European and Asian civilizations. Rapeseed plants prefer to grow in relatively low temperatures, with less heat required for successful reproduction than other oilseed crops. Therefore, rapeseed was one of the very few oil sources that could be successfully grown in temperate climates. This led to rapeseed being grown in Europe as early as the 13th century. In later centuries, rapeseed was used for both cooking and lighting, as its oil produced a smokeless white flame. Rapeseed had a rather limited industrial acceptance until the development of steam power, when it was discovered that rapeseed oil would bind to water and steam washed metal surfaces better than any other lubricant. It was this special property that led to the introduction of rapeseed into Canada.
The need for Canadian rapeseed production arose from the critical shortage of rapeseed oil that was needed by Allied forces during World War II and were supplied by Canada to break the blockade of European and Asian sources in the early 1940s. The oil was urgently needed as a lubricant for the rapidly increasing number of marine engines in naval and merchant ships.

Fallow deer are a medium to large sized deer. Fully grown males (bucks) stand at around 0.84 to 0.94m tall at the shoulder and weigh between 46 to 93kg.
Fully grown females (does) are 0.73 to 0.91m at the shoulder and weigh between 35 to 56kg. By comparison, an average adult man in Britain is 1.77m high and weighs 79kg.
Fallow deer have four main variations of coat:
Common – tan/fawn, with white spotting on flanks and white rump patch outlined with black horseshoe shaped border. Coat fades to a general grey colour during the winter
Menil – paler colouration with white spots year-round and a caramel horseshoe shape on rump
Melanistic – black, almost entirely black or chocolate coloured
White – white to pale sandy-coloured turning increasingly white with age (this is a true colour and not albino).
Fallow deer often have a distinctive black inverted horseshoe shape on their rumps, and a black stripe on their tails which are the longest of all British deer.
The Fallow deer is the only species in Britain with palmate antlers. These become full-sized after the deer are three/four years old and can reach up to 0.7m in length. Facially, their head is more elongated than some species with large angular ears.
Does and their young give short barks when alarmed. Bucks groan loudly during the breeding season.
Fallow deer leave large hoof prints (slots), about 6cm long in soft ground. Their feet are more elongated than Roe deer and are heavier, creating deeper prints
Small "true" bug, about 4-5mm
The tip of the forewing of Heteroptera is fairly thick (~1.2 microns), thus there is no color iridescence visible (brown curve). The base is even thicker and leathary. This is the origin of the name "hemiptera" which means "half-winged". The newer name Heteroptera means also "mixed-wings". This leads to the typical "X" structure of the closed wings in dorsal view, which is an easy means to identify "true" bugs.
Hind wings in contrast, are much thinner (~0.2 microns here), which leads to a brillant blue-violett if illuminated coaxially.

. . . Nothing like seeing the stars out so bright with no moon to interfere! This is my first try at star trails, and it looks like the cabin accidentally did some light painting of the maple trees and field in color, and I LIKE it! Why did I wait so long to try this??
Have a great weekend Facebook, Flickr, and 500px friends!

All my life in a frame. Still experimenting and reading a lot. Here learning to use the snow as a reflector to create a soft diffused light, while the intense yellow light warmed the dominant blue color. A lot to improve on the postprocessing side, but I like the result, I hope you like it too.

You with the sad eyes
Don't be discouraged
Oh I realize
It's hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You can lose sight of it all
And the darkness inside you
Can make you feel so small
But I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful
Like a rainbow
Show me a smile then
Don't be unhappy, can't remember
When I last saw you laughing
If this world makes you crazy
And you've taken all you can bear
You call me up
Because you know I'll be there
And I'll see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful
Like a rainbow
Can't remember, when I last saw you laughing
If this world makes you crazy
And you've taken all you can bear
You call me up
Because you know I'll be there
And I'll see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you

To the lamp of love: may it burn brightest in the darkest hours and never flicker in the winds of trial. ~Author Unknown
Your mind becomes what it listens to. Choose your words and your voices wisely.
Words are seeds. Some grow into hope, others into fear. Choose wisely what you allow to take root in your heart.
Words have the power to build or destroy. Guard your mind by choosing carefully what you listen to.
Not every voice deserves your attention.
Dedicated to one of the best photographers and dear Friend Rui Palha hoping this will made up his mind and make him return there for a photo session... :)
Have a wonderful weekend!
