my beloved artist behind glass ...

which makes it not easy to capture but gives additional information about the environment ...

the order was exactly the hanging (curation, which is always of immense importance) ... there are only 5 horizontal stripes of different size and color, as it seems, mixed on the background ... there is no continuous line ...

there is an enormous difference in the colors and moods depending on whether I let the room light have an effect or strive for a "neutral" daylight ... the light sources in the museums often have different color temperatures, intentionally or unintentionally ...

Sean Scully (born 30 June 1945) is an Irish-born American-based artist working as a painter, printmaker, sculptor and photographer. His work is held in museum collections worldwide and he has twice been named a Turner Prize nominee. Moving from London to New York in 1975, Scully helped lead the transition from Minimalism to Emotional abstraction in painting, abandoning the reduced vocabulary of Minimalism in favor of a return to metaphor and spirituality in art.

Scully has also been a lecturer and professor at a number of universities and his writing and teachings are collected in the 2016 book, Inner: The Collected Writings and Selected Interviews of Sean Scully ... I heard from my friend Wiki ...

Another triptych for next week. A bit limiting having to arrange pictures for screen showing. At least with prints it’s easier to come up with a more dynamic arrangement of the three pictures.

HD PENTAX-D FA 150-450mm f4.5-5.6

It's been a while since I last posted... I've been playing with my new iphone and checking out it's camera. Taking photos 'on the street' is so much easier with a phone. No-one seems to notice! This morning, in my local coffee place, everyone was on their phone. And maybe they were all taking photos, but no-one batted an eye. Whereas my Canon DSLR attracts all kinds of attention.

Thanks for looking!

Just finished this commission. Triptych 3x 90 cm x 40 cm. Acrylic on linen. Client didn't want watercolour and asked that each painting can be displayed as standalone piece.

Shirl was watching a load of cookery programmes last night so I excused myself from the living room and decided to have a play around in Photoshop. The result was my first Triptych. It was a messy process so I assume I can't have been taking the straightforward and recommended creation route. I'll keep plugging away though.

The subjects are a small group of Exmoor Ponies we came across on the hills above Hebden Bridge.

While my son was reeling in a small trout on Baum Lake in Shasta County, California, USA an osprey swooped in from a nearby tree and tried to steal his fish. I already had my camera aimed in the right direction so I grabbed a burst of frames of the action. These are my three favorite frames assembled in a triptych showing the moment just after the bird grabbed the fish out of the water followed by trying to get a better grasp of it, and the moment just after dropping the fish.

Ultimately, after what had to be one crazy roller-coaster ride for the trout, it was reeled in and released mostly unscathed (at least physically).

Had another trip to Wallington for their food fair today and also a wander about in the woods...

We also bought some early xmas presents which are really cool too... I *might* put some photos up of them 'cos I'm pretty sure the people they're for don't look at my stream...

All elements in this composition were created by me.

Now I want to do something similar with paint and canvas ---just have to figure out how to do that.

Time travel: 17 years ago, when phones were mostly 'dumb' (not smart). And a century earlier trams weren't as we know them today - though some still run ;)

As promised, here are Kevin Hansen's three murals put together into one wide image.

Kevin is a cobbler who owns and operates Molly's Cobbler Shop, which is just 10 blocks from our home.

He is also an accomplished artist, regularly producing original artwork, often hanging them outside on one of his shop walls. He often features themes of our city and state. I love his style and effective use of colors!

Here are two links if you want to see more of Kevin's artistry. The first link is to his shop's website, and the second features more of his art projects :)

"Trumpeter Textures Triptych" by Patti Deters. Beautiful white swans (Cygnus, buccinator) are tucked into round little puffs as they do a bit of preening by reaching their beaks into wing feathers. These were photographed near the St. Croix River, in Hudson, Wisconsin, USA. Several soft pastel textures and overlays have been applied for a dreamy and artistic effect. Each image in this triptych is also available individually by going to the links below. A small study of an old Wisteria climbing a stone pergola

"If you will observe, it doesn't take

A man of giant mould to make

A giant shadow on the wall;

And he who in our daily sight

Seems but a figure means and small,

Outlined in Fame's illusive light,

May stalk, a silhouette sublime,

Across the canvas of his time."

This makes my 500th AI image on Flickr. Some of my early efforts look to me a bit crude, but after a while I started to connect the tool to my traditional art skills.

This triptych depicts the car-centric world we have built for ourselves and how it controls us and in many ways is killing us sometimes literally and exchange for not having to pedal or walk.

What is a stroad? A stroad is a cross between a street, which is where we live, shop, work and play, and a road, which is intended for high speed travel connecting towns and cities. Stroads are where strip malls live, where giant billboard signs are erected, where people are run over trying to cross the street. Stroads are bad juju and they are ugly. For a thorough explanation click the “Not Just Bikes” link below.
