We were driving in a familiar area Saturday and we saw this orange something above the trees????
To our surprise it was a big pumpkin tent that came from nowhere overnight! Have no idea what they plan to do with it since just in the assembly stage.
Since the only thing that has ever worked for me for an EXPLORE in months was humor....thought I would try it again...LOL!

P.S. My husband saw my glare in the right side and said "no more of this" so he got me a non glare lense for my lense....and they say they are not good to have around??LOL!
Using a cameraphone to view negatives ...
I've been meaning to write this trick up as a mini tutorial, but for now this little example will have to do.
Occassionally I'll be looking at a negative and want to get a quick feel for what it looks like. In the case of the image here, it was brought in by a visitor to the Who Do You Think You Are? Live show where I was working dating old photographs.
The trick is simple: on your cameraphone (or on most 'point and shoot' digital cameras) put the camera in 'negative' mode. This is often found in the 'options' or 'effects' menu. You'll see that the hand and all background objects (including the white sheet of paper it is being viewed against) now look odd, but the image itself is good enough for viewing.
I had headed out to find cherry blossoms, but on my way I looking into an interesting yard to find this scene. I would have liked time to get more angles, but after the second click, my model turned and headed off with typically feline distain. [gratitude 48/365]
A delightfully scary brother and sister came calling last night. Luckily, I had my camera and SpeedLight at the ready.
At night the pumpkin patch is taken over by Joker up to his usual tricks. "Trick or Treat Batman? TRICK! You know, lollipops can ruin your teeth!? Especially when used as a hammer HaHAaHaHA!!”

For Halloween, the Apple store was giving away, not candy, but these awesome bright orange patches. I had to get me one.
Update: For Halloween 2006, the Apple store gave me a flashlight keychain with an Apple logo on it. Even though that's cool, I think I like the patch better. Hehe.
Anna's tricks, including her new one: high five. She was a little hesitant on that one and went for it with both paws instead of one (like usual). However, we had done the tricks a few times already and I think she was starting to lose focus.
Make sure to watch for those trick or treaters crossing the streets. They are too busy having fun to watch for you!

Background/Origin Story: Trixie “Trick Shot” Dare grew up alone on the rough side of town. Her parents were shot down in a robbery gone wrong, and Trixie was left to fend for herself. Throughout her youth, she got into her fair share of trouble running with a gang known as the “Wreckers” who soon adopted her as part of their family. The “Wreckers” specialized in vandalizing and petty theft. These crimes would often get Trixie noticed by the New Brickton police, and she eventually built up an lengthy record of offenses. Trixie discovered her innate ability to “always hit her target” while evading the police, and she soon used it to her benefit to remain one step ahead of the law.
When she reached adolescence, Trixie began following the career of the Crimson Cloak with great interest. Initially, she hoped to become his sidekick, but after dozens of refusals from the grim hero. She instead decided to go out on her own and become a lone vigilante.
Due to the nature of her parent’s death, Trixie was instilled with a strong sense of justice. Though her moral compass may seem a little skewed at times. Trixie also refrains from killing, instead she opts to use her pistols as tools to bring criminals to justice as opposed to committing the same acts of violence that left her orphaned.

Tonight was our town’s trick or treat night. We never got many kids in Pittsburgh because of the hill we lived on. Here… it’s so flat here. Even in the rain and colder temperatures we had so many kids. We got too meet so many of our neighbors we hadn’t yet and it really made us feel even more settled in the neighborhood. The outside cats came and went, the rain did too. We listened to the score from Friday the 13th Part III on cassette tape on our stereo. It felt so much more like the Halloween I love and remember from years ago. A really nice end to a gloomy autumnal day.

Photoshoots with a 14 week old puppy (today!) can be very... entertaining.
Toby has two "poses" right now - this one (which you've seen several times before) and the one where he's charging toward the camera.
(sigh)
A work in progress... the pup is definitely a work in progress.
On the bright side, Henry dutifully stared into the pumpkin even though the only thing inside was a pile of rocks to make it harder for Toby to run off with it.
What a good boy!
What I really need is to draft Hubby into guarding the camera for me, although I'm not sure his presence next to the camera would be a deterrent or a lure.
