The Inner Trial Bank is a small artificial island, constructed out on Breast Sand. The island was part of a failed experiment to create freshwater reservoirs in the Wash.

The Outer Trial Bank is a circular artificial island in the Wash, East Anglia, England. It is one of two islands constructed during the 1970s for a governmental water resources scheme.

"The gaol opened in 1886, after 13 years of construction. It must have been a strange feeling building a prison in such a beautiful setting. The prison labourers were there to construct a breakwater to make Trial Bay a safe harbour between Sydney and Brisbane. Unfortunately the scheme failed, however you’ll still be able to see the remains of the breakwater from the guard tower lookout. During World War I the gaol became an internment camp for people of German descent who were feared to be enemy sympathisers.

Today, this picturesque historic ruin stands as a testament to those who lived and died here, with a museum and memorial for visitors to get a better idea of life in those days. "

Ate at an hotel in Tarbert on Harris and there was a group that we played a guessing game to work out why they were on Harris. We failed. The following day we went to a sheepdog trial and they they were. A BBC Alba Outside Broadcasting crew!

So, I've been working on this today. I recently bought a Pentax ME Super to replace one of my first cameras, as it unfortunately it died a few years ago. Ran a film through it, developed it Friday and the film was ruined. Almost complete light leak from somewhere. Ran another film through it quickly, wandering round the flat. I then deved it, and thankfully it came out OK, so the camera was good. Either I messed up or the film was crap. Who knows.

Anyway, I've been learning how to scan film all day, by trial and error. I bought vuescan a few months ago and while it made some good scans, it also seemed to struggle giving me anything good out of this film. The Silverfast demo seemed to render the scan better, but I can't afford to spend out on that, so have to make do with what I have.

This is the only half decent image out of the whole film and yes, my feet are meant to be in shot! Exposure X5 also helped get this scan looking a bit better.

Still lots to learn it would seem.

Somewhere dark, is the response I give when asked where I am going. A few days in Cornwall provided all the dark places required for a Lightpainter to play around in places no other sane person would dream of being at that time of night.

We also went for a walk there the next day and the trail was busy with walkers and cyclists and although a nice walk, it wasn't quite the same experience as the previous evening.

This has an interesting history. Built original to house prisoners who were bought there to build a break wall in Trial Bay. It was also used to keep German Nationals who were interned during the War. Its a massive building and under the care of the NSW National Park at Arakoon..
