I often shoot landscapes in winter as the air is clearer and the sunsets are earlier. Although this one was taken with my phone!

this isn't a nasturtium plant, but the leaves are similar. Nastutium trees are native to Australia and Asia
A little bit more abstract than my usual photos, I lay down on the woodland floor and took a series of photos which I joined in Photoshop.
A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.
This week in SSC: Trees!
Wow, this was a real challenge for me this week. My husband and I went on a hike and discovered this really great tree but when I viewed my pics on the computer when I got home they didn't look so good so we went back and tried again. Now I have 3 photos to show you! :D
This Douglas Fir tree is at least 500 years old. It's unusual to see a tree this size around here. Sadly they've all been logged off. I had my husband play "Tree Hugger" for me to give you an idea of its size (photo below.) At one point in its life it looks like it was struck by lightning. There is a scar running up the length of the tree (photo below.) It is really a magnificent tree. I've grown quite fond of it this week and wish I could bring it home (intact.) :-)

May the water flow away from it and sustain the world with growth and reason. Then return rich with knowledge and love.....the circle complete
