The Beauty of the Sky
Jahrhundert.
Beherrschendes Motiv sind die Lebensbäume. Versinnbildlicht wird die Schönheit des Himmels.

Found in many African countries, Baobab trees can grow for up to 5,000 years. They can reach up to 30 metres high and up to an enormous 50 metres in circumference.
A beautiful coastal tree with the roots exposed and thriving. It took me years to make it out to the Olympic Peninsula to see it. It was much smaller in person. ;)
Have a great day!

The tree, designed by artist Hans de Win, was made with a view to the 700th anniversary of 's-Gravenpolder. It was created in collaboration with many residents of 's-Gravenpolder. they literally did their part by creating a tile that is incorporated into the artwork. Hundreds of small tiles have been made. tiles with memories or dreams about the future. All tiles together form a stylized tree.

Messing around with some Photoshop today. Might be a little too heavy handed even for my "tell a story with your processing" taste.
As always, love the honest feedback.

From you have I been absent in the spring,
When proud-pied April dressed in all his trim
Hath put a spirit of youth in every thing.
Shakespeare, Sonnets.
So here's where I'm at now. I went scrappy rainbow (using both dots, denyse schmidt and a few other things mixed in). Red and the wolf will be appliqued and obviously not out of paper, like they are now!)
Oh and see my note on the tree. I have a question!
The African landscape is so beautiful and fascinating. This was day 1 of my safari tour taken in Voi, Kenya at the Ngutuni Wildlife Reserve. My two guides (one was Kenyan, the other Danish) were fun & very knowledgeable. I was lucky to have had a very personal experience, my "driver" was also the caretaker of the villa where I stayed and I had his land cruiser (see previous picture) all to myself.
INFO ABOUT THIS TREE: "Known as 'The Tree of Life', the baobab is an icon of the African savannah, a symbol of life and positivity. Growing wild in thirty-two countries across the continent, it is at the heart of many traditional remedies and folklore and can have a lifespan of up to 5000 years.
The baobab is a prehistoric tree that is highly adapted to its environment. During the rainy season it absorbs and stores water in its trunk, enabling it to produce a nutrient-dense fruit when all around is dry and arid. This is how it became known as The Tree of Life."

I'll drink of he clear stream,
And hear the linnet's song;
And there I'll lie and dream
The day along:
And, when night comes, I'll go
To places fit for woe:
Walking along the darken'd valley,
With Silent Melancholy.
