"When you go out into the woods and you look at the trees, you see all these different trees. And some of them are bent, and some of them are straight, and some of them are evergreens, and some of them are whatever. And you look at the tree and you allow it. You appreciate it. You see why it is the way it is. You sort of understand that it didn't get enough light and so it turned that way. And you don't get all emotional about it. You just allow it. You appreciate the tree. The minute you get near humans, you lose all that. And you are constantly saying, "You're too this, or I'm too this." That judging mind comes in. And so I practice turning people into trees. Which means appreciating them just the way they are." - Ram Dass
Trees are wonderful subjects to photograph. Their unrefined organic makeup lends towards lots of added color and texture. The beautiful earth tones and texture of this old tree stump can still be admired even after the tree has been cut down.
The blindness is also likely a result of the denial that such a place can exist in this world, with the incessant blue skies and irrepressible sunshine.

Beech trees cover the western hills of Caesar Creek. Their grey bark stands out. The beech are among the last trees to lose their leaves.
My corner of the family Christmas tree. Beatrix Potter's Tom Kitten, Batman, and my favoritest ornament ever, the fairy with the poofy hair. She doesn't hang from the tree; she's got wire bendy limbs and just sites on a branch. She makes me happy.
She's falling apart, and I'm desperately looking to find a replacement for her.
