A Tree

The world a blur to most

Most see a tree as a tree

The day you actually see

When the world is not the same world

A tree is no longer a tree

A tree is something that bears fruit

A tree is something beautiful

Even in the harshest winds

A tree stands its ground

A tree with leaves of majestic green

No longer just a tree

But a tree that is a work of art

That is the day you see the world

That is the day the world comes into focus

That is the day you truly see the tree

Laura Green

A solitary tree on a crest of a hill in the Yorkshire Wolds. The title taken from the Poem “The Trees” by Philip Larkin published in his last volume of verse “High Windows” published in 1974

The trees are coming into leaf

Like something almost being said;

The recent buds relax and spread,

Their greenness is a kind of grief.

Is it that they are born again

And we grow old? No, they die too,

Their yearly trick of looking new

Is written down in rings of grain.

Yet still the unresting castles thresh

In fullgrown thickness every May.

Last year is dead, they seem to say,

Begin afresh, afresh, afresh.

"In 1957, the Chandler Community Coordinating Council decided to plan new decorations for Downtown Chandler. The idea of the Tumbleweed Tree came from Chandler resident Earle Barnum who remembered a community tree built out of pine branches in his hometown of Elkhart, Indiana. "

This is an old picture that I found. I intended to post it a long time ago but never got around to it. It is a little stream out in the country (the middle of nowhere Kansas actually) that I drove by and turned around and went back to look again. The only thing I did to this was crop it. I hope you enjoy it.

This image was taken while travelling through the Pyrenees.

This is a re-working of an image I uploaded awhile back, only it was in color. I really prefer this b&w one way better. Those of you who have me on facebook or follow me on 500px ( 500px.com/Derphoto ) may have already seen this. It's a pretty simple shot I know, but I think it's turned out to be one of my new favorites.

Thanks for looking. Cheers everyone!

An old barn perhaps getting a new coat of paint. This barn not only has lightning rods but a wind vane and could use a new window or two.
