A single tree stands by itself on a hillside.

This is the same tree as in my previous post, taken less than a few minutes apart with a different exposure settings and the boat a little further away.

I was fortunate that our long-tail driver had good appreciation of photography and understood what I was doing. He actually suggested this spot to us.

We hanged around in this area for a good while. He stopped his engine and used an oar to control the boat's position as I instructed him to move around to frame my shots.

I find something very pleasing about this shot although I'm not quite sure what it is, maybe the light streaming towards me, the texture of the bark, or maybe the uprightness of all the trunks. It's not surprising really because I am a fan of trees! It's a magical forest.

iso 1600 using room light, really just playing and learning about lighting. i learned that most of the light was behind me, causing me to appear more grainy. *makes mental note*. i really need to get an external flash!
