It’s tulip season. I’m betting you’ve recently been seeing photos posted of huge fields of colorful tulips in the Netherlands. At the end of Golden Gate Park, closest to the ocean, you’ll find two windmills. One is called the "Dutch Windmill" and next to it is the Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Garden. Last weekend I decided to go check it out, since it had been a while. Unfortunately it was crowded because it was such a beautiful day. I was lazy so I just brought my ultra-compact digital camera instead of some film or the DSLR. The tulips were nice but I came across these purple flowers, too. I guess they are Geranium maderense. One of my all time favorite photos I’ve taken was of these flowers when I had no idea what I was doing with my first digital camera. At that moment, by luck, the camera had chosen the perfect settings and created a magical photo. So, when I saw these again, I couldn’t help but make a bunch of new photos. In every photo I’ve taken of these flowers, I think they look surreal.

I’ve been back a few weeks now from an extremely interesting trip to Cuba with a photography group, a trip that I was not totally mentally prepared for, but was absolutely worthwhile! I’ve got loads of photos to go through (over 3000), but here are a handful from Havana to get us started. The group focused mostly on street photography and portraiture… Two things I’ve not had much experience with, but I think I got some good stuff. The ballet building at blue hour.

One year ago, soaking up the unique experience of walking through the old Medina in Fez, Morocco. The Medina is a maze of extremely narrow streets that are often lined with shops trying to sell you their wares. I hate buying things while traveling so I just focused on looking for interesting scenes to photograph. Here is a sampling.

Zaanse Schans is a neighbourhood of Zaandam in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. It has a collection of well-preserved historic windmills and houses; the ca. 35 houses from all over the Zaanstreek were moved to the museum area starting in 1961.

I didn’t realize it until earlier this week, but, since the Presidio Golf Course has been shut down due to the shelter-in-place orders, they’ve allowed it to be used as a public park space. Well, until tomorrow, anyway, when restrictions are loosened, slightly, and allow for golf courses to open up again. I decided to take a walk through, with my camera, since it is a rare opportunity to walk the course without the danger of flying golf balls. The front couple holes were packed with people, including children playing in the bunkers, but it thinned out further back. It’s a beautiful course dropped right in the middle of the lush Presidio. Here is a stack of photographs from my walk.

Ever crossed this colorful bridge? You should cross it at least once! The Alkaff Bridge is a colorful bridge that you will pass when walking along the Singapore River at Robertson Quay. 😍😍

The 55 meter long bridge, if seen more closely, resembles a barge, which is a light boat used to deliver goods along the river in early Singapore. The Singapore River was once a place where entrepreneurs gathered to trade. 👏

This bridge was then painted very well in 2004 by Filipino artist "Pacita Abad" with 900 liters of paint and 55 different colors and made it the first ArtBridge in Singapore! You can't pass this cute bridge without taking photos! At least, take some pics! #SingaporeGuideBook💜

One year ago, I was revisiting Sintra and Cascais, Portugal. Most everyone wanted to go see the Initiation Well at the Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra, but I passed, since I had been there before. I checked out the palace, instead, which ended up being a little lackluster. Afterwards, we headed to the beach town of Cascais. It was quite pretty and the weather was perfect for enjoying the small amount of beach. In hindsight I probably should have stayed longer and headed back to Lisbon on my own, since we really had very little time to explore. Here is a classically Portuguese building in Cascais. Many of the buildings in Portugal feature intricately painted tiles, often in blue and white.

One year ago, checking out the beautiful landscape of the Douro Valley and Douro River in Portugal. We did stop to sample some of the wine, too. This river was how they were able to easily get their port wine out for trading in Porto.

Last weekend one afternoon I decided to head up to the Marin Headlands and Rodeo Beach to hike up to Battery Townsley and Tennessee Point. Here are a couple of shots taken from the cliff out towards the Tennessee Valley.
