At first I simply stored,
by color,
my few translucent bricks
on white plates.
Slowly,
over time,
they grew into their own cities.
Yankee Springs, Michigan during the Fall is a beautiful place. If you've never been there, I would encourage you to hop in your favorite vehicle and take a tour. The colors, lakes, and scenic roads are great.
A short intermezzo from my "Denver to Seattle" uploads for a macro shot of an European Garden Spider (Araneus diadematus) from my own backyard.
In about a half hour I took 120 shots of different spiders. After severe selection, only 6 were kept. Not easy to get the focus on the tiny eyes!
These images are all about playing with translucency. The leaf has been placed on a piece of glass put between two tressles. A soft box is used to illuminate the leaf from below, with metering for the light, not the leaf.
I have had a lot of fun with these and will now try a few different scenarios.
Strong sunlight (a rare commodity in Whaley Bridge in February!) passes through the overlapping petals and folded leaf of this beautiful tulip, creating an attractive variety of tones and revealing shadows which hint at the hidden reproductive parts of the flower on the inside.
this pic: no editing, I liked how beautiful and fragile this leave looks... I played in the sun for almost an hour, and got a very bad sunburn in my back for the session with the little hearts, but, no regrets... pics are worth it :-)
This weekend (April 16/17) the tulips were at their best in the Bollenstreek area. Bright colors everywhere!

We took Apple along with us on holiday to Menorca, and she had a great time! Lots of sunscreen though, for that translucent skin!
