The government recent miraculous (clearly it easily could have been done before) (didn't need #covid_19 to happen) housing of the homeless is presented as a success story, but they are not telling you about the deaths.
The "housing" provided is NOT protected by the Residential Tenancy Act; and is nothing more than Soft Incarceration; without the supports these people need and deserve.
They have been given beads, bobbles, and blankets; in exchange for their possessions, liberties, and for some already, their lives. #RIP

Cities are selfishly rushing to house the homeless; fearful of becoming collateral damage to outbreaks among vulnerable populations.
Victoria, BC has made promises of hotel rooms, but so far appears to be putting most effort into creating one or two large tent cities in contained and more controllable locations. (soft incarceration)
I've hear rumor of the local ball park being a possible site, but have not had a chance to check it out, but they are in full swing in setting up a large tent city in Topaz Park.
The Topaz Tent City is resplendent with washroom facilities, garbage disposal, running water, donated tents, and even a Safe Injection Site.
The right thing was done, only because the selfish privileged feared they may become collateral damage if the coronavirus spread among the poor and homeless populations that surround their rich people enclaves.

Decampment of Topaz Park and Pandora Avenue Corridor

The City of Victoria is evicting the homeless from pandemic friendly, self-isolating, camp sites; forcing them to move to a temporary encampment in Topaz Park, which provides no opportunity for social distancing or proper hygiene; from where they plan on moving them again, into a large stadium setting which amounts to warehousing of the homeless in a confined setting; again, not COVID-19 friendly.
One of the camps being emptied is the Humans of Beacon Hill Park Community, who live unobtrusively with little objection from the community. The move would place them at higher risk of contracting coronavirus.

In spite of vocal and aggressive opposition from the deplorable NIMBY side of society; Victoria BC has relented and finally opened a Tent City in Topaz Park.

These are NOT the MABS figures being made in the Mexico nightshift, but the older polycarbonate plastic, allegedly from the LEGO factory in China.
It has been hard to find much info on these. I have heard a couple times that they were given out to "high-ranking Lego employees as gifts around 10 years ago". (Lego's Jiaxing factory opened in 2016.)
The yellowish-clear figure and the two blue figures with mismatched hands are older still, with a factory code "B" before their mould numbers. These moulds match early collectible minifigures, so were likely made by outsourced partners in Schenzhen (Broadway Precision Technology?) or Hong Kong (Morning Light Enterprises Co.?) prior to the factory in Jiaxing.
Because these figures are polycarbonate, which has a tendency to bond to itself, these do crack easily (especially since they're made with molds intended for ABS). I have avoided assembling them completely :)

Canada has forgotten about and/or chosen to do as little as possible for the poor, homeless, disabled, and elderly.
...offers of housing the homeless in hotels may not be materializing; and the tent city solutions appear to be more like soft-incarceration; and a bait and switch, where offers of housing turn into arrests and prison.

A striking shot of a protest sign, at a 2019 demonstration for trans rights in Leeds.
I found this while sorting my mound of negatives and slides, and thought it really stood out! (especially given the current political climate in the UK...)
Shot with my Fujica GW690 on 6x9 Fuji Pro 400H, and (badly*) developed in my kitchen sink.
Scanned with an Epson V550 using Vuescan and Negative Lab Pro, then colour corrected and cropped
*8 month old C-41 developer is probably not great for contrast or colour accuracy haha
