While the sun sets in the west, 14A heads eastward through Belgrave with a special "Steam & Spirits" train organised in conjunction with Four Pillars Distillery.

The morning sun has yet to find its way above the mountains surrounding Skagway, AK as the White Pass Rotary Fleet sets off from the company shops at Milepost 2, headed toward White Pass and the second day of the 2011 line-clearing operation. The plow train consists of the 1898-vintage Rotary #1, which has worked this line almost since it opened. The rotary weighs in at 154,000 lbs...more than the weight of Mikado #73, which is right behind her. The 73 is actually the baby of the fleet, having been constructed for the WP&YR by Baldwin in 1947. Immediately behind the 73 is Consolidation #69, a much older White Pass Baldwin, that was built in 1908. Note that unlike 73, the 69 is an outside frame locomotive and the drivers are not visible. The "caboose" on this train and the home for the 12-man crew is the cupola-equipped, Combine #211, which was originally built for the Sumpter Valley Railroad in 1918, but was brought to the WP&YR by the US Army during WW2 and has remained ever since.

This freight train is operated by our own paper transportation. However, vehicles "WAMU-Type80000" that are operating in this freight train is scheduled to retire in March 2012.

Fondant covered train cake for a little boy turning 1. This was definitely a challenge but fun to do and I'm happy with the end result. Cakes were 10", 8", 6", 8"...fed about 60.
This is the second year for the train garden display at the Tilghman Island Watermen's Museum. I am one of their volunteer photographers, and love seeing the fruits of my friends' labor. They have many school groups, locals, and tourists visit during the holidays!
The museum is now part of the Talbot County Tourism trail.

This year's train under our Christmas tree. As soon as I saw Koen's great Gingerbread Train I wanted to make one too! I did the locomotive and caboose and Zoey (age 7) added other cars -- and the snow made from packing peanuts :)

Finally I have time again to go further with my projects. My first project I did finish is this train sheed with a train wash area.
Here we are on the train, Tim and me, taken but JJ. I have a confession - this was actually in the morning, on our way from Nice to Menton! If it had been our return trip, we were all separated as the train was painfully busy! JJ and I nipped upstairs hoping for seats while Tim stayed down. We didn't meet up until the train was nearly back at Nice! (Not a lot of fun!)
