Class 29000 diesel railcar set No. 29008 departs from Rosslare Europort with the 18:05 service to Dublin Connolly on Saturday 7th September 2024.
I didn't think I was going to see any trains on my September 2024 visit to Ireland so this was a bonus. It would have been nice to have got the whole train in shot but this was the best viewpoint I could find in the time available.

This train (I believe it's 17M) blocked the 8th Street crossing for a while as someone in the yard replaced the FRED.
The U.S. version of the Holiday Train makes its first stop of the year on a drizzly evening in Kahnawake, Qc tonight at Adirondack Jct.

Work train 93m, with an ex-Burlington Northern SD40-2, runs long hood forward as he pulls 10 loaded ballast cars out of the Harrisburg Yard and on to the mainline. The Operation Lifesaver painted unit would travel west down the Lurgan Branch, bound for the maintenance track at Chambersburg.
wow, there sure was a lot of dust on the negative. oh well.

Description: This 1837 m tunnel, with a bore of 6 m, linked the Canadian mainline of the Grand Trunk Railway with Chicago via Port Huron, Michigan. It was designed by Joseph Hobson, a Canadian engineer, who also supervised its construction. Tunnelling commenced from both ends in 1888 and on August 30, 1890, the two tunnels met. Train service began on September 19, 1891. Electrification of the line through the tunnel was completed in 1908 and remained until the introduction of diesel trains. With the construction of the adjacent Paul M. Tellier Tunnel in 1993-94, the original tunnel was sealed.
Op 31 maart 2017 was ik nog voor zonsopgang in Magdeburg aan de Elbe toen een Captrain Lok (serie 185) met een lege autotrein over de spoorbrug donderde.
Am 31 März 2017 war ich noch vor Sonnenaufgang an der Elbe in Magdeburg. Genau zum richtigen Zeitpunkt überquerte eine Captrain 185 mit leeren Autowagen die Brücke über die Elbe.
On a chilly day in March 2017 I was standing at the banks of the river "Elbe", waiting for the sun to rise. A few minutes before the sun started to appear a captrain 185 engine passed the bridge with a long freight train. The sky was absolutely beautiful with 50 shades of red (or something like that). Needless to say, I was very happy with the shot...
A favourite island of mine is Sri Lanka. The best way of travelling on this island is by train - or so it was until few years ago. Doors and windows stood open during the journey, you felt fresh air blowing the heat away as the wonderful landscape rushed by outside.
Today, new wagons have arrived where doors and windows are closed. A bit of the grand adventure is gone but you can still look out through the windows and chat with your friendly, colourful fellow passengers.
Nothing lasts forever...
