The Uguisudani Train Station in Tokyo, processed a bit... This is the train station nearest to the hotel we stayed at in Tokyo. (Uguisudani means "Bush Warbler Valley" in Japanese.)

We were waiting for a train in the other direction.

 

This was our the first day of the 8 stage Maleweg way, to get to starts and finishes of each stage we used a mix of public transport and taxis. This morning caught a train to Pirna, and then bus to Liebethal, where the Malerweg started.

The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway is a 15 in (381 mm) minimum gauge heritage railway in Cumbria, England. The 7 miles (11.3 km) line runs from Ravenglass to Dalegarth Station near Boot in the valley of Eskdale, in the Lake District. At Ravenglass the line ends at Ravenglass railway station on the Cumbrian Coast Line.

The abandoned Donner Train Tunnel, in use from 1868 to 1993. It's now an artists gallery and an interesting hike in semi-darkness.

Looking west along the train tracks. The railroad was built in the middle of Crockett Street. The house struck by the train is visible behind the Southern Pacific boxcar.

Just trying to catch up on photos - still lots to go through from this day and TONS from the first half of vaca (though most will be family only). Not too much from the second half being sick and all :-(

Les travaux débutèrent à la fin juin 1912 pour se terminer en avril 1917, alors qu’un convoi spécial d’ouvriers et d’invités inaugurait le tunnel.

 

Construction began in late June 1912 and ended in April 1917, when a special train carrying workers and guests inaugurated the tunnel.
