We had sleeping compartments reserved on the 6 pm train. Were told the schedule had changed and so our bus drove like hell (a story in itself) to get to the small town at 5 pm, only to find the train had left at 4. We got tickets on 9 pm train but were scattered through the train, so our resourceful guide, Win, convinced them to let us using the club car. He told them that we were (1) foreigners, and (2) old people (!), both of whom deserved respect. (Perhaps there was money involved, too.) So this is where we spent the night.
Nevada had brought a feather duster for spiderwebs and insect spray to fumigate the sleeping compartments -- she's done this before. So we weren't exactly expecting Pullman cars. But we were planning on lying down!
Super cool project! We produced the interior train graphics and the chefs build a gingerbread train to go in front of it!

This train had to make an emergency stop when it was thought a person standing too close to the rails may have been struck. The engineer said he did believe there was physical contact, but by the time the train came to a stop, the man--apparently uninjured, was nowhere to be found.

# Circular Train in Yangon
A ride on the Circular Train will give you a unique perspective on daily life in the city and the area around it. The station is a grand British colonial building that combines Burmese architectural style with functional Western elements. On the three-hour trip, you'll see the scenery change from city to rural, and pass by ponds, villages and scenes of farm life.

These new trains were just unveiled! They are double-decker and thus much shorter in length, lower to the ground, and faster than the old ones. Unfortunately, they are only running at a few times and on a few routes right now. Hopefully ONCF will deploy more soon! This train cuts the Rabat to Fez trip from 3.5 hours each direction to 2.25 hours. Rabat to Casablanca is still about an hour, but these trains are much more comfortable and it's easier to get luggage on and off.
