A crane reaches out above the tracks in Strathcona.

Behind St. James Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Taken during a pretty wicked dust storm. The camera's sensor already needed a cleaning, so I figured what the hell.

Track work along the Union Pacific line.

Track 4 at the Hackescher Markt S-bahn station in Berlin. The train approaching in the distance was an S5, S7, or S75, any one of which we could have taken to Tiergarten, our hotel stop.

After shoveling the driveway, I got out and drove around looking for photographic inspiration. Luckily, I found some.

I'd been wanting to do this shot for a while, but every time I crossed these tracks was on my way to & from work, so no camera and too much traffic. Not much traffic today, since a lot of people were still off work because of the blizzard.

No cranes used here as the track gang shift rails that had been brought up to Sanjiazi on the afternoon mixed train on the Nanpiao Coal Railway.

Tramway tracks in Reims.

Inside of a M113 Armored Personnel Carrier or track as we called them. This was before extended laterals when the driver had to be down inside the track. Extended laterals allowed the driver to sit on top and drive for a better chance of surviving an RPG or mine. Photo from John Michael Massey (Mike).

A note about safety: No less than 5 people were involved in the making of this image - 2 were dedicated spotters watching for oncoming trains. Train tracks can be dangerous places. A train engine beats, a semi-trailer, an automobile, and definitely a human. Be especially careful in their right of way.

Here is a shot taken during the long jump events at the annual Chico Multi-event Classic at Chico State where decathlon and heptathlon track and field events for men and women were held over a 2-day period. I get a big kick out of the facial expressions and body positions assumed by the athletes during this event.

Image was shot with Nikon D750 + 80-200 f/2.8.

Entertainment attractions in Bognor Regis.

Taken in Plzen, CZ . In the 19th century on these tracks, trains full with beer were leaving the Pilsner Urquell factory . One interesting fact is that during summer the wagons had double walls and between the walls ice was put to keep the beer at the same temperature as in the factory's cellar till the wagons were reaching the destination (usually pubs) .

Probably about 2 train drivers get this view. South Island Main Line heading south from Christchurch.

Porthmadog station is next to where we are staying this week; lovely steam engines trundle in and out during the day to Caernarfon and Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Looking down the railroad tracks in Walsenburg, CO

One of the places I did my friend's Senior Pictures at.

An image from my walk on Saturday. I stayed on the grass, no running.

Some overexposure gives T-max an unusual tonality, I think.

When in Italy a few weeks ago, we stayed in quite a strange little collection of buildings up on the hill above Foggia.

Surrounded by friends, food & coffee - there was little else to see except for lizards and the scorching, unrelentless sunshine blasting down on us at a constant 40C.

About 100 yards across the fields was a train track, apart from the occasional daytime train it was most noteworthy for the fact that it was used to fill metal containers with rocks.

After midnight.

For several hours.
