Christ Church was built by William Cubitt on land donated by the Countess of Glengall. Cubitt had a major impact in developing the South-East corner of the Isle of Dogs and the name Cubitt Town still bears witness to his influence.

It's a 2010 replica of an 1842 Chinese-style pagoda that had originally formed part of a Chinese exhibition in Hyde Park before being moved to Victoria Park, eventually being demolished in the 1950s.
It was painted by Dave Binnington Savage, Paul Butler, Ray Walker and Desmond Rochfort between 1979 and 1983
