The flat hill in the distance is a marvelous formation that can be recognised from miles away. Just to the south of it is located the historic 77 ranch first owned by Peck and Converse. In his book,The long trail from Texas, Ad Spaugh talks of burying a couple children who live with thier mother in a cabin east of Flat Top that took sick and died. They were buried on a pine knoll nearby Flat Top by a crew of sad cowboys.
My Grandmother who knew Ad and sadly recalled visiting with him about the burial. She told me of it before I had ever read the book many years later. Exciting and hard times...

I was amazed to see a big bird on top of the trimmed trees. I needed a telelens to discover it was a goose! Can you imagine?
Taking in the sea air on the top deck of the Stena Europe superferry. I travelled from Ireland to the UK last week to visit friends & family, my first time back in 10 years. Home now but I'm feeling a little jaded so you'll have to bear with me while I try to catch up on comments in the coming days.
The life jackets are stored in these benches & the lifeboats are hanging over the side. There is actually a walking route around the deck, 4 laps = 1km. Great idea to pass the time HBM!

I've lived in Albany for 13 years, about 2 miles from the capitol, and I only just went there for the first time today. Better late than never!
The West Staircase, known by its nickname the "Million Dollar Staircase" is one of the architectural highlights of the building. This is the top! It reminds me of the Theed Palace on Naboo from Star Wars.

The last little bit of morning glint hits the side of a morning trailer train working up hill at Bort Road with a now gone Top hat leading the way.

These are cut glass toothpick holders that I use as small vases. I set them on a cushion in a north-facing window to let the light shine through them for this photo. They are identical in size and design, and I was surprised to see the beautiful patterns of the glass when taking a macro shot from either end. The one on the right is looking right down the center from the top. HMM ! !
You know...meet me halfway...across the sky. The only reason I knew that song is because I saw the Stallone film, Over the Top. This bolt seems to stretch all the way across the sky.

Seen from an upstairs window , the sun on it's way down lit up this tree top against a grey and gloomy sky - so a shot was required and here it is .

Part of the entourage at the Grimaldi Service at the All Saints Church Haggerston - the annual celebration of Regency-era clown Joseph Grimaldi.
This monument located on Mount Buzludzha is the biggest ideological building in Bulgaria. It was built as a tribute to the creation of the Bulgarian socialist movement in 1891.
The construction of Buzludzha was made possible thanks to government funds and supporters’ donations for an amount of around 14 186 000 leva (around 7 000 000 €). The site was built by civil engineering troops from the Bulgarian army and volunteers. The master builder was General Delcho Delchev who was in charge of the Stara Zagora civil engineering section. The author of this project was the architect Guéorguy Stoilov. Several famous painters and sculptors have participated to the decoration.
Ever since the superseding of Bulgarian president Todor Givkovand and the political changes that occurred in Bulgaria from 1989, the state of the monument has continued to decay. portraits of Ludmila and Todor Givkov have been destroyed. The copper adornments have been stolen. The building is slowly disintegrating; the monument is abandoned and no public institution seems to be concerned by the conservation of renovation of the building. The Bulgarian socialist party itself is not taking any action towards the maintenance of its most important symbol. The big star has been perforated by gunshots because it was thought to be made out of ruby!
On Bulgarian derps tour with Dursty, John, Andrew and Mike. Visited very little due to the harsh roads and long drives in two car convoy, busted by a pistol and axe wielding guard, picking up a hitchhiker, removing a hire car wing mirror with a bin, countless selfies, a stray dog and not forgetting an insect bite from hell that gave me a club hand.
But the main event was accessed twice and was the main objective for this trip so all was good.

Haven't done anything new in a while. Waiting for the leaves to start turning. In the mean time, this was taken at the beginning of the summer. The entire day it was raining off and on with the occasional sun bursting through. I was done photographing the falls from the bottom and was debating whether or not to hang around until sunset. I guess, you know what the outcome of my internal debate was :) This is Kaaterskill Falls in NY.
