Photograph taken at 16:21pm on Saturday 25th May 2013 off Botany Road and Foreness Close, along the top of the cliffs above Botany Bay, the Northern most of seven bays in Broadstairs, Kent, England.
Watching the seagulls catch the updrafts and fly seemingly for the sheer joy of doing so, is hugely enjoyable and addictiove. Here I employed Nikon's Continuous focus mode and 3D tracking with 51 autofocus points to assist the D800, not known for high speed capabilities, in capturing the fast sweeping birds in flight.
The seven bays are (from south to north) Dumpton Gap, Louisa Bay, Viking Bay, Stone Bay, Joss Bay, Kingsgate Bay and Botany Bay. This view looks from Kingsgate Bay into Botany Bay. I have so many happy childhood memories of Botany Bay, and love to spend time here walking and photographing in the footsteps of those memories.

I think this is part of a barware set, too big for a drinking glass. I love the black & white graphics. No makers mark on the glass though but looks like something Libby would have produced.
Wether permitting, you can go on top of the Teide with a cable car (or hike up to the top station of the cable car). From the station there are hiking trails on the Teide and on to the real top. The last one you need a permit for, as the administration restricts the number of tourists in respect to the nature.

I'm using SunTour Power ratchet shifters on this bike, they work really well with wide spaced 6 speed clusters.

Fabric: I used a thin, guazy black cotton I've had for years (a decade?!) and a cotton print I picked up at the thrift store. I liked it's Liberty of London-ish look, though it's not a lawn/voile.
This photo shows Cinderella's Castle as seen from our table at California Grill, at the top of the Contemporary Resort. (The empty seat in the center of the frame is mine.)
Despite our many previous WDW trips, we had only recently heard of California Grill when we booked the trip, and we thought it would be a fun 'special occasion' for our last night. It was fun, and the food was great. (It had better be, for the price! Thank goodness for the Dining Plan.)
But to me the 'highlight' of the evening was going to be watching the fireworks from our table. Only we couldn't see the fireworks from our table. In fact, when I made the reservation 180 days in advance, I asked how to time the reservation, and the castmember recommended a seating time 40 minutes before the fireworks show. We made our reservation, and then we showed up plenty early... but we weren't seated until 5 minutes before the fireworks. They couldn't guarantee us a table by the window, so I was understanding about that. We watched the fireworks from the outdoor observation deck, which was nice, except that the entire restaurant emptied out so the deck was a mob scene.
And I had envisioned seeing the fireworks above the Castle, but they all were exploding way off to the east. I realize that you cannot have explosives showering down on thousands of theme park guests, but... I guess I was disappointed by the whole affair since my expectation were so high, and because I'm used to everything Disney does being perfect.
Next time, we'll just eat dinner muchearlier, then return to the observation deck at fireworks-time to watch. As it was, we were trying to feed two very tired kids at 9 PM--not good.
Wonderful neon crowns the Top Hat Auto Wash in Flint. This location will be featured in the upcoming Will Ferrel movie "Semi Pro", due out in 2008. As far as I'm concerned, just the neon makes it a star.
Lonnie (who was with me on a little neon hunt this night) says the "O" on AUTO was out the last time he shot the sign himself. Hopefully, they'll spring for the bucks to repair it soon.

Steve Gent and I observed an juvenile Snowy Owl sitting in a ditch alongside a road, flushed it as we drove up the road and it flew to the top a power pole in central Illinois during early February, 2025. Pictures taken with a 500mm lens using the car as a blind, a safe distance away from the owl.
In the latter half of 1962 until late-1963, the United States Army was testing extra-sensory perception, (ESP), and other mind power tests, including astral projection. These tests were conducted privately, but the test vehicles used, standard military Jeeps, were painted in non-standard Army colors so in case the public ever became a witness to the tests, they wouldn't know what they had seen.
These tests involved certain test subjects, usually general enlisted personnel, piloting these vehicles using only mental abilities. As such, the test vehicles were not equipped with engines and, in fact, had no steering wheels or the need for a dash. They were to be controlled entirely by the subject using his brain. After crashing 57 test vehicles because the test subjects were used to holding a steering wheel and there wasn't one for them to grip, the tests were abandoned. Some of these vehicles have survived, in crashed conditions, to this day and can be found in some out-of-the-way salvage yards of the American Southwest.
This is a diecast 1:64 scale version of these little-known test vehicles.
