When we first moved here, we spent a lot of time searching for a decent Mexican restaurant. Sadly, we gave up the search and decided that it just doesn't exist. Maybe living in New Mexico for so long spoiled us. Whenever we go back to Albuquerque. we make a point to eat a few good Mexican meals to tide us over.
When our friends came to visit the other day (from New Mexico), Bill said he was craving Mexican food. We explained that it just wasn't worth it here, and we went out for Italian.
Well, listening to him talk about green chilies had ME craving Mexican food! And the next night Charles and I went to Bennys. We ate here once before, and I didn't care for it. But it's a fun, lively place; and I remembered that their margaritas were good. I was pleasantly surprised about how much I enjoyed my Huevos Rancheros! And, as a bonus, they even have a vegetarian sauce!
Maybe I am becoming less of a Mexican food snob.
So Coloradoans: What's your favorite Mexican Restaurant? I am open to trying some more!
PS: Chris: Proof that I don't just drink Martinis!
I couldn't leave #LibrariesWeek unmarked, but as it is unlikely I'll get to a 'real' library this week - and as the theme this year is reading, it seems apt to capture another shelf in my own library.
This section contains some classics - including one of my all time favourites: Paul Gallico's 'The Man who was magic' - plus some books signed by the author. Each of those holds memory: I lived next door to Geoffrey Household when I was a teenager, and used to babysit for his grandchildren. I remember meeting Anne Mcaffrey at an author event in Uxbridge library, then Ben Aaronovitch in Gillingham library. And surely no fantastical collection is complete without a signed Terry Pratchett :-)
Disappearing into the distance are some travel books - sadly un-consulted at the moment......(but good for dreaming).
A climber finishes an ascent moments before sunset, gleeful yell on his face as he looks at the land beyond.
Taken with a Sigma SD Quattro H, and 150-600mm sport lens.
This was shot and processed as an SFD, though the best post and expression I took by processing just one of the inner X3F files from the SFD. The sky was smoother as a result.
I just did a stocking adjustment for the left leg and pulled the lacy stocking top up a little. And the result: now the left stocking top is a smidge higher than the right one, so now the right stocking needs a small pull upwards. By being so "clumsy" you can keep adjusting your hold-ups forever, which is perfect for me. I absolutely love fiddling with my stockings as it feels so feminine and is so playful and seductive. And the lacy stocking tops are beautiful so they deserve to be highlighted in the process.
Flat Top Manor (1901), Moses H. Cone Memorial Park, Blue Ridge Parkway near Blowing Rock (milepost 294), North Carolina
Flat Top Manor is the 20-room, 13000 square foot mansion of the textile magnat Moses Cone.
The building was used as Georgia Pines nursing home in the movie "The Green Mile".
What a gorgeous spring day today was! We hiked the trails on the mountain above my parents house.
Sunny paused at the top of the ridge for his photo shoot.
I now need to go take some advil before bed. The pups are even tired out tonight!

A new shop has opened in town called Petite Sweets and they sell these wonderful cake pops. Perfect for my after lunch dessert!
The egg shell using both bottom and side lighting sources. A more mellow and rounded result - less dramatic. I've added two more shots, this time using the same combination to shoot a small white chrysanthemum flower.
I'd be delighted to hear your comments, and about your solutions to table-top macro shooting ;o)
I've added a set on studio and equipment shots here: www.flickr.com/photos/e_liddell/sets/72157643348402124/

From Vogue Holiday 2005, knit in pure silk, mostly on US 5 needles. I think it might be a while before I want to make another bobble...
Watching these sandhill cranes fly in formation reminds me of the 80's movie Top Gun. They do look like the naval F-14 Tomcats with their navy grey color.
In-camera panorama function of Fujifilmless Finepix S1800 proved to be a practical tool: it added a five meter slice to our humble lot.
