This is a Tertiary Era shark tooth from Morocco. Despite its age it is surprisingly well preserved and still sharp. Sharks first appeared in the fossil record 420 million years ago, in the late Ordovician/ early Silurian. and the modern varieties have been going for 100 million years. They have been an extraordinarily successful group of fishes and top predators, only now threatened by Chinese soup makers. Sharks have cartilaginous skeletons and as such rarely fossilise. However, the teeth do in great numbers (sharks grow and shed many teeth), hence one is left with the Cheshire Cat's grin. Based on modern sharks' teeth and jaws, the fossil teeth are used to estimate the size of the creatures they must have belonged to. One species, Megalodon (= 'big tooth') had teeth up to 15cm long, suggesting an 18m (60 foot) shark. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shark
