The coast of California around Half Moon Bay is jagged & rocky.

The books make similarities with Zoned Tooth, Hydnellum concrescens but I don;t agree - to me the spikey projections standing clear out of the cap are obvious and unmissable - zoned tooth doesn;t have these!

Much smaller than 3 inches...I would survive. Macro Mondays "Triangle".

Shark Tooth Peak at Divide Lake of Tombstone Territorial Park. This rock is so massive that I had to stitch 8 shots of 11mm to have this panorama.

There's already an origami shark tooth on the internet, but I wanted one that had a little more "substance" or weight, so this one's a lot thicker. There is no design that I can't make unnecessarily more complicated!

We saw this Double-toothed kite at the Rainmaker nature park in Costa Rica when we were watching a troop of squirrel monkies pass by in the trees. I learned from our guide that often raptors will follow monkeys as they move through the trees because they often scare up other prey animals like lizards, snakes, small mammals and birds. That could be a good strategy for looking for other animals in the wake of the monkeys.

This is my finished sculpture of the tooth fairy from Hellboy 2. I keep it under a bell jar to keep it from eating coworkers.

Comb-tooth fungus, might be hericium ramosum, or might be hericium coralloides. Either way, it is definitely of the genus Hericium, the family of comb tooth fungi.

Coral tooth fungus has started to sprout just where it was last year in Epping Forest

For Macro Mondays 5Letters weekly challange

November has continued a trend started last month with day after day of cloudy, wet, dreary weather. Nearly an entire week has passed without even a glimpse of sun. Psychologically awful conditions, yet part of me reacts with a feeling of glee when I'm out with the camera. The atmospherics of shots such as this fascinate me. The harshness of the weather seems to translate wonderfully into the visuals I yearn for. Both in terms of creating photos but also the physical experience if being in a place like this, of feeling what it's like in a place that appears utterly devoid of hope or joy. There seems to be a correlation between the physical discomfort of being blown about by freezing winds and rain and the intensity of the resulting photos. While the natural human tendency would probably be to take the photo and get out, I often linger. I put aside the cold and wet and concentrate on the scene before me. I spent at least 15 minutes glued to this one spot, realizing there was an opportunity here. I shot a couple dozen frames at least, each with slight variations on the composition and exposure. I'm finding that often even a couple of degrees of upward, downward or lateral tilt makes an enormous difference in the resulting image. I don't trust my eye to make the call during the session, nor do I want to encumber my mind that way. So I take many shots, confident that I can sort them out later when I'm warm and dry. Sure enough, when I reviewed the photos later, I found several rather pedestrian frames, okay but nothing that really spoke to me. And then there was this one that seemed to encompass everything I felt. The framing, the partially melted snow over the thick carpet of fallen leaves, the grittiness of the stone, the overall sense of gloom, everything encapsulated perfectly.

Inside the Buddha tooth relic temple, Chinatown, Singapore. It's claimed that this temple houses a tooth fragment of Buddha. An early morning excursion yielded some interesting images of the temples beautifully ornate presence, in flattering light.

An idiom ascribed to Alfred Lord Tennyson meaning "wild nature," which aptly describes this handsome fellow at the National Wildlife Museum (though he seems content, sluggish and fairly well fed).

The tooth fairy should be stopping at our house for the first time ever! Thankfully we have this handy little "fairy portal" which makes it a bit easier for her to get in and out of our house. Last week school, this week we have the excitement of losing her first tooth! All of these milestones, I just don't know if I can handle it. My baby is growing up so quickly!

Another Sango Sands shot.

She's got a serious case of the sweet tooth.

Hydnellum peckii. A wee jaunt to the ancient pine forests of Caledonia last week produced several specimens at two different sites. I didn't expect to come across these, but they were top of my wish list. Next time I hope to find them younger with the droplets on the top!

This beautiful winery is located in Paso Robles, CA. The surround hills are green from all the recent rain, making it a stunning setting. I did not play with the water color in the castle's moat - it really was that vibrant.

These seemingly luminescent teeth were in a jaw bone I found laying in the Cypress needles down by the river. They are presumably from some hoofed creature. I looked around for the missing tooth but could not find it. That remains a lost story within a story.

Paisley's tooth is just about to fall out and she's completely freaking out. she doesn't want to eat, drink, brush her teeth, or do anything that might make it fall out, it's pretty crazy. and gross.

Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus)

Like all flowerheads in the Daisy Family, this is protected by sepal-like bracts or phyllaries, and this is typical of Centaurea with that having a distinctive tip. This is deeply toothed and very dark in the species.
