In 1949 Plomb was required to change the brand name marked on their tools, and chose "PROTO" (from "PROfessional TOols") as the new name. In 1949 Plomb started marking tools with the "PROTO" mark, and by 1950 the Plomb name had disappeared from its tools. The "PROTO LOS ANGELES" mark was used to 1956.
Necessity is the mother of invention. I wanted to create a potting tool image to replace one I had borrowed from another Flickr member. I realized the shot was waiting somewhere in this piece of garden art - a water dish about 18" in diameter made of clay - entirely of clay - the dish, the trowel, the gloves, the acorns, even the cicada. Just add water and stir!

Well, not exactly...
Anyhow very popular.
Kau Cim Sticks (Chinese: 簽, cim) are the flat sticks which are stored in the tube. Generally made of bamboo, they resemble wide, flat incense sticks, and are often painted red at one end. A single number, both in Arabic numerals and in Chinese characters, is inscribed on each stick, There are usually a total of 100 sticks in the cup. Each stick has a different number on it, and no two are alike.

Since I have lived in apartments my entire adult life, I didn't have any tools at all. So I went down to the hardware store and got some basics.
Success! Sort of...
I have managed to make an orb tool but the lights were so faint it almost wasn't worth bothering.
The circuit comprised of 8 2.2v led's connected to 2*9v batteries. I was pleased with the construction but the lights were so damn dim it wasn't worth the bother (and it took a while for an electronics fool like me!). No resistor was necessary (I think?) due to the led's in the circuit.
Photos of construction are in the link - www.flickr.com/photos/repeater1/sets/72157626908216867/wi...
Presumably I need brighter lights? However, I am already running against 18V - how do increase brightness without increasing this?
Cheers
Steve
Big Data is a buzzword that only hints at the vast amounts of information we now collect and analyze. More confusing than enlightening in an undigested form, data can be mixed with knowledge to spot trends and guide health-promoting changes at the individual and community level: Data + Knowledge = Empowerment. It’s not about what “they” know about “us;” it is about engaging in dialogue based on accurate information. How do we best harness all the data available to influence behavior and design programs that promote healthy outcomes?

A few folk have asked me what sort of camera I use. Well there you have it. A digital Kodak EasyShare C633 Zoom. Not the most notorious tool ever devised by man, but for an amateur hobbiest, it seems to get the job done.
