In 1949 Plomb was required to change the brand name marked on their tools, and chose "PROTO" (from "PROfessional TOols") as the new name. In 1949 Plomb started marking tools with the "PROTO" mark, and by 1950 the Plomb name had disappeared from its tools. The "PROTO LOS ANGELES" mark was used to 1956.

Since I have lived in apartments my entire adult life, I didn't have any tools at all. So I went down to the hardware store and got some basics.

I have managed to make an orb tool but the lights were so faint it almost wasn't worth bothering.
The circuit comprised of 8 2.2v led's connected to 2*9v batteries. I was pleased with the construction but the lights were so damn dim it wasn't worth the bother (and it took a while for an electronics fool like me!). No resistor was necessary (I think?) due to the led's in the circuit.
Photos of construction are in the link - www.flickr.com/photos/repeater1/sets/72157626908216867/wi...
Presumably I need brighter lights? However, I am already running against 18V - how do increase brightness without increasing this?
Cheers
Steve
My fake tool cover for the 2008 spring catalog for Acme Tools. All the tools (hammer, paint roller, paint brush, screw driver and, power drill) are all made from various letters and other pieces of type (parenthesis ect.)
made with graphite, not ink, about thirty five years ago. Stabbed myself with a pencil, not a suicide attempt, just was trying to use the pencil to open up a toy that resisted my stubby hands. Now I have better tools and hands and end up using X Acto knives to scar myself.
