Justin from tool came in for an interview today. He's also presenting an hour radio special of his favourite tunes which goes to air next Saturday.
Anyway can't wait to shoot/watch the show tonight - only an hour to go!
update: tool photos - was even harder to shoot than Gold Coast BDO - ARGHHHHHH
When I went in for my cleaning last week, the dentist found a sealant that had been put on some time ago had come out, so I needed to get a filling. Today was the day.
I've never really had a big fear of dentists. The sight of these tools doesn't really send a chill down my back like I know they can for some.
Though I have to say the needle they use to put the anesthetic seems super long when it is going in.
I snapped this while waiting for the anesthetic to go into full effect.
Lofting Room/Tools at the Maine Maritime Museum - Bath, ME 20-Aug-07
Lofting means to take the 'Lines Drawing' and 'Table of Offsets' supplied by the designer and reproduce them full size on a loft floor. The shapes for making the patterns for the keel, frames and anything else can be taken off from the lofted lines. Originally, before computers, designers drew boats or ships by hand. The architect made up a table of offsets for each frame, and had to be read off the drawing on a scale ruler by eye. Sometimes there were one or two small errors which were easily picked up and corrected by the lofts man who would redraw the ship full scale. by running long battens of wood (like giant flexible rulers) through all the points, and drawing the curved lines, produced fair curves and showed up any little errors in fairness from the hand drawn drawing.
Usually for boats under 60 ft. the lines are drawn full size. (Large vessels may be lofted at 1/10 scale if sufficient floor space is not available.)

Building on the five-year vision of Addressing Europe’s Unfinished Business, Tools For Changemakers strengthens its training component while embarking on a three-year journey of exploration of the link between personal and collective identities in Europe, the rise of populism and nationalism in different European regions, the need to belong for old and new community members, unaddressed collective traumas, and the urgency to work with these issues in order to build more trust and cohesion in Europe.

Tools for endpin fitting. Reamer, shaver, spare block to check fit with a bit of chalk. This is an Ulsa, standard rosewood with hollow 10mm rod.
My old precision machinist tools have been sitting idle for numerous years. I think it's finally time I let them go to a good home. This whole lot, plus the roller chest and some other odds and ends = $2,500 (about half what you would pay to get it all new).
This was another I liked. However I think there is more space but there are certain aspects I like such as the strong angles and the way the light catches some of the pieces.
Feel free to weigh in with which photo in this series is your favorite or critiques on any of them.

I decided I wanted some actual feet on this rather than having it just sit on the bottom of the frame so I used my jig saw to cut out a small arch in the two side pieces,
Nosing around the hand tool section of Home Depot, looking for a hack saw and some nuts and bolts for some running repairs - they must be further down the aisle. One for this week's challenge of tools
