The shot glass. Maybe TMI - but maybe something that is shared. The tool of the first week back for teachers and administrators - making it work and staying cool and calm. All within respectable limits. -)

I finally finished my tool cabinet. It's my first project *mostly* done with handtools. It's not perfect, but I learned several lessons, so that makes it all okay.
This is a Bosch GSB 14,2-2-LI cordless drill from their 'Professional' range.
Which is just as well as I loathe using cheap or inferior tools.

The Li-Ion battery recharges very quickly and doesn't suffer from the same memory effect as Ni-Cad batteries. The chuck is an Auto Lock type, meaning the drill spindle is automatically locked when the tool is at standstill, then you turn the chuck with one hand to lock and unlock - no two handed 'chinese burn' actions needed with this drill!

I use a Gillette Fusion Power razor, it's the best I've ever had, the packs of four blades are quite dear (£10.98 at ASDA) but I used the last four for a whole year ... so I'm starting a new blade for the new year and I expect it to last until 31 March!
(With Edged Tools is the title of a book by Henry Merriman - my father had a copy in his bookcase - I never read it but the title has stayed with me for more than sixty years.)

New Total Tools hardware store at Thebarton. Note the Designer Direct customer car park only sign, which is a few years old. This was originally Cash Converters, until in 1995 it became a thrift shop called Mr Bankrupt's Dump House. And early in 2001 it became The Good Guys, which later relocated southward to Mile End five years later. Then in 2006 it became Designer Direct, but because of the tramway extensions rendering its lease non-renewable (I suspect!), it closed four years later and now this new hardware store was opened in early 2011.
