With this tool, cartographers could measure linear distances on maps by running the tiny wheel along the line between two points. Then they calculated the actual ground distance using the dial reading and the map’s scale.
Here it is then! Now the secret is out I thought I'd share this. This is what I use for the dome. The leds are colour selectable so I use the same tool for all my different coloured domes and the best bit is it's remote controlled!

For fastening the boards together with rivets, the boat builder needs three tools; clinker hammer, hoof hammer and hoof pliers. After putting on the rove, the nail is pinched off with the hoof pliers. When clinking the hoof hammer is held against the nails head with suitable strength, so that it bounces back for every hit of the clinker hammer.
"It is also important that the riveting hammer is matched to the seam. The hammer head must not be more than 150-200g on the færings. As you go up in seam size, the hammer weight can also increase. Best weight depends on both size and habit. A hammer of 225g for a 2 1/2 inch seam is perhaps suitable."
I went to the dentist' office today for my teeth to be cleaned. These are tools the dental hygienist used. They also took x-ray. I didn't have any cavities. (Probably everything has already been filled, capped, or crowned.) Haha :D

The inspiration for this portrait came from Gegory Heisler's photo of chef Daniel Boulud (link below). The context is that my engineering friend rebuilt his house. To capture this part of his personality, I had him choose a tool that he thought was indispensable.
