Things I've noticed from the bus on Bradford Street. Been meaning for a while to get shots from Bradford Street, but I don't fancy getting all the old ex factorys / warehouses.
I keep seeing this place from the bus. A former factory or warehouse, now gutted and now a car park, except it hasn't been used as a car park yet. They are still waiting for it to be let as a car park.
It was Good with Wood (UK) Ltd.
The In and Out parts seem to be open all day, so anyone can get in, such as grafitti vandals (notice the grafiti on the back wall).
It is at 48 Bradford Street.
The entrance to the car park - In.
Taken as part of the International Empty Shop Day 4 May 2010.
The very low, setting sun cast a huge shadow in front of the pedestrian as he walked along the pavement.
The clock above the shop is not working.
Something about this old ironmongers shop makes me think of The Two Ronnie's word play sketch in a hardware store about fork handles and four candles.
This shop will be sadly missed locally.
It closed more than a year ago and it is still To Let!
Last time I went in here, before it closed, there was absolutely nothing worth buying.
Even the Woolies in Shirley is like this, waiting to be let.
This is 1 - 7 Shirley Road.
The Woolworths in Solihull is now a New Look store.
Wonder what the fate of this one is?
Update June 2010. This is now a shop called Furniture and Electrical. To open in July 2010.
Think it is now a charity shop for the British Heart Foundation.
So Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone (yeah don't promise, if you cannot keep. :P). Today I'm one year in this page. :) I hope, you like my photos (and of course fortunately I saw your fantastic pics) and I'm glad, that I have some friends in the hyperspace. :)) Unfortunately there is no snow, but my city is nice ( except the ruin hehe :D) and this is one of my first slow shutter speed-photo (yeah except for the dancer pics). :))
Before I left the city centre, I saw these UK City of Culture 2013 signs on City Arcade, so took a few shots of them. One outside, and one inside the arcade.
This one can be seen from Warwick Passage.
On the corner of Union Street and Union Passage is City Arcade in Birmingham.
The side facing near WH Smith is on Union Passage and Warwick Passage.
The other side faces Sainsburys in Martineau Place.
It is a Grade II* listed building dating from 1898 to 1901 (the late Victorian period). It is by T W F Newton and Cheattle. The decorative terracotta and green faience is by Doulton and Co and other detailing by W J Neatby.
It has an arcade full of shops. Although these days there aren't really any shops down there (from what I've seen whenever I pass it)

Right next to the Frankfurt Christmas Market in New Street I saw this food outlet, now closed, while just a few feet away there were lots of stalls selling the same thing. It seems there's a demand for bratwurst at Christmas, but not the rest of the year.
A trip to Birmingham for the Frankfurt Christmas Market, plus a look around the city's shops.
I keep spotting this pair of buildings from Moor Street Queensway. Thought they were worth taking.
This is on Albert Street (Saint Michaels Catholic Church is nearby)
I think that this building is 20 - 26 Albert Street. Dates from 1898, although it looks modernised.
Currently looks like all the units are available to let.
20 - 26 Albert Street of 1898 by J A Chatwin, the entrance with a big broken pediment bitting a two-light window.
From Pevsner Architectural Guides: Birmingham by Andy Foster.
A blue lamppost outside Haines House. It fits the period, even though it is probably modern.

On Mosley Street in Burton upon Trent. Between Moor Street and the Station Street / Borough Road junction.
For some reason one road sign says "Moseley Street" and not "Mosley Street".
The Roebuck - pub on the corner of Mosley Street and Station Street.
Was an Ind Coope pub.
The Roebuck Inn was built in the 1800s.

There was a lot of traffic on the Warwick Road in Olton.
Mainly returned to Olton for the former Bank House and Olton Library.
As usual found it hard to find a decent spot to take shots of them. Between the traffic.
So this was the best I could.
Traffic wasn't bad at this end, compared to near the roadworks, further down Warwick Road.
The Bank House building in Olton, on the Warwick Road.
The first floor offices are to let.
Dates to at least the 1930s if not earlier.
This is The Public in West Bromwich.
Since I heard about it, I always wanted to come here. One of the reasons to go to West Bromwich. It is free to enter.
The Public is a community arts organisation based in West Bromwich, West Midlands, England, and also a large modern building constructed in West Bromwich and intended to accommodate the group.
This is the side from near West Bromwich Ringway.
Approaching The Public from Cronehills Linkway.
Road works - and to the left is another future Tesco site.
The building on the right is To Let by Bond Wolfe.
..Cav did it. Four in a row :-) We were on the Champs Elysees the day he won the first time but sadly had to leave early and didn't get to see him cross the line.
.. this time didn't disappoint. Brad led him out for the last 1km slipping off tolet Edvald finish the job.
Unbelievably, Cav stopped opposite us after he'd crossed the line waiting for Edvald..
