This shot is a tip of the hat in the direction of the magical work on Pete Ware's stream. Lately Pete's been posting images showing great work with light, bokeh and depth of field (see comment below for an example or two) creating abstract images of great interest - he makes this look a lot easier than it really is.... why not check out his stream?

Sequence showing orange tip laying egg on everlasting wallflower (Erysimum), developing egg and hatched larva. Sussex, UK.
After nibbling briefly on the seed head the larva curled into a ball and did not move for more than 24 hours. It vanished some time within the following few hours.
This is the basic set up for my poster. I've adjusted the positions of the barista, bartender, and waiter to create a bit more cohesion, I guess. I tried to keep the palette a little on the down side. I wanted the health cross to be green, but it just got absolutely eaten by the colors around it and disappeared.
I think I might swap so the barista's holding the health cross and so the bartender's holding the graduation hat.
I want to add a lot of texture to this like with the hair, the banners, and especially where the stripes of the waiter meet the bartender's tie since that makes just a weird shape. I'll also skooch the waiters' far right stripes and suspender to make them more obvious. For the time being, however, this is what I've got. I'm still completely open for critiques.
My first thought about "tip" was to photograph someone spitting into the wind. That may have turned out kinda gross so I went instead with a "tip of the hat." My lovely assistant and model George happens to have a brilliant hat for such purposes, though he is a reluctant participant (notice the hatred just bubbling under the surface - what a steely eye!)
And then it was a smidge of lightening around his right eye, a sepia tone to make it old-school (who tips their hat nowadays?) and a bit of vignetting as a finishing touch.

I found these for less than a third of what they're supposed to cost, and they arrived a week before they were expected. I love the idea of changeable points, and can't wait to see how they are in practice. I have no idea what I might knit on these sizes of needles, but whatever, I'll just have to start something new I guess.
It may be the most expensive city in the world, but Singapore has racked up plenty of other superlatives: cleanest, best planned, and, quite possible, most entertaining. The Lion City is home to the world's largest rooftop infinity pool, the world's first safari park for nocturnal animals, centuries-old temples and, of course, some of the best food in the world. You'll also find extraordinary gardens, righteous architecture, world-class performance venues, shopping streets, and experimental art galleries. The city-state offers a fascinating melding of the old and new, the historic and the modern. Read on for our picks of what to do when you're in Singapore.
