Author Photo - Dos Equis: A Russell Quant Mystery #8 by Anthony Bidulka

Up until this point, all the professional author photos I'd done were shot indoors. Partly this was a timing issue, getting the photos done in winter, which has its downside in terms of photography.

For the eighth Russell Quant book I planned ahead. Every time I'd see the blooming fields of canola that explode around Saskatoon each summer in vast canvases of brilliant yellow, I'd think: I really need to use this natural treasure in an author photo one day. Not only would it make a stunning background, but I thought it was a perfect representative showcase for me as a Saskatchewan author. Not to mention that I am Ukrainian and my blue shirt and yellow canola perfectly match the colours of the flag of Ukraine.

Project: Cheap Film Camera Challenge with Expired Kodak Film.

Camera: Vivitar PZ3105 = Total Cost $5 CDN. (Unused)

Film: Expired 35mm Kodak Film from the 90's/early 2000's.

Such great timing for this project - In October 2022 The Eastman Kodak Co. announced on Twitter that it has hired more than 300 people over the past 18 months to handle the rising demand for 35mm film, and that it's aiming to hire even more workers.

This is my other golf shot that I took while I was fooling around with my lighting. I had 1 ball in hand so I had 1 chance to get this right and I nailed it... Trying to time your swing to the 10sec timer isn't easy at all...

Whilst changing trains at Warrington Bank Quay on 18 June 2018, there were quite a few enthusiasts waiting for something. I asked what was due, and this was the reason...a double headed northbound steam railtour including Flying Scotsman tucked inside. The train was travelling about 80 mph and my timing was slightly out pressing the shutter, resulting in this unfortunate error!

Its getting late, I have no photo and i'm starting to stress about missing a day so soon. Then BAMM !! it starts snowing. The first snow of 2012.. I grab the camera and start stressing more about what to do with the snow.. its too dark for snow angels... then i spy these. A set of genuine russian dolls from Russia, a gift from the 'spy' from day 5.

I tried to get them travelling through the snow.. it kinda works. With more time it could be better, but its cold and my camera is getting wet.
