At least once a week, if not more, we see this guy riding his bike up our street in South Philadelphia, carrying/balancing a case of beer on his bike's handlebars. We call him the Schlitz Guy because he's usually carting a case of Schlitz Beer, though it does vary from week to week. The beers tend to be inexpensive cases of cans, something I might refer to as low-rent or lowbrow beers. I've seen this guy for years and have been fascinated by his tenacity and ability to balance the beer case on his bike handlebars. I've been wanting to take his photo but I've never had my camera handy until today; it must have been my lucky day. He was stopped at the corner of my street trying to figure out what one of my neighbors was doing (she was attempting to park, but wanted to back up and park in the spot where he was). My timing was perfect as I already had my camera handy. I pulled my bike over to The Schlitz Guy and we chatted for a bit, me telling him I see him every week, and he telling me that he's actually riding up the street EVERY day with his case of beer. I figured that since we were both on bikes, I'd have a good chance of asking him if I could take his photo - wanting to photograph fellow cyclists and beer enthusiasts. Brian couldn't have been happier to pose for me; he actually allowed me to take a few photos, but this one was by far the best. He was keen on my getting the beer brand and his balancing act in the shot. Brian says he buys a case a day. Hopefully he has crew of friends who help him drink it. I'd hate to think what his liver looks like.

The timing belt broke on Skyline Drive. 3 hours of waiting, a call to AAA, and a tow to Harrisonburg was all in our future.

The Le Cheile 'Leixlip 5KM' Road Race, Jog, and Fun Run was held in Leixlip, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Saturday May 4th 2013 at 11:00. This was the biggest ever attendance at the race which finished the last 700 meters on the almost completed tartan track belonging to Le Cheile AC at the Leixlip Amenities center. This was a great race with a great atmosphere. The weather was reasonably good (except for a strong head wind). Good race times were reported by many participants. Congratulations to Tony Brennan and all of Le Cheile AC for their huge volunteer work that goes into making this race the growing success that it is.

The chip timing was provided by Red Tag Timing and the results should be available here [www.redtagtiming.com/results/LeCheile5km_2013.xls]

Overall Race Summary

Participants: Approximately 400 people took part in both events with runners, joggers, walkers, and families involved.

Weather: This was a wonderfully bright day with a strong headwind at the 1st and final KM of the race.

Course: The race starts on the road outside the amenities center. There is a signifcant climb up the motorway overpass at 1KM. The stretch from here to 4KM is reasonably flat. There is a final

long drag up to Louisia Bridge and the race finishes with almost 700M on the new athletics track built by the club.

Refreshments: The refreshments after the Le Cheile 5KM have now gained legendary status. Outstanding.

How can I get a full resolution copy of these photographs?

All of the photographs here on this Flickr set have a visible watermark embedded in them. All of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available, free, at no cost, at full resolution WITHOUT watermark. We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. We do not know of any other photographers who operate such a policy. Our only "cost" is our request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, etc or (2) other websites, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us. This also extends the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page. If you do not know how this should be done for Facebook or other social media please email us and we will be happy to help suggest how to link to us.

Please email petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com with the links to the photographs you would like to obtain a full resolution copy of. We also ask race organisers, media, etc to ask for permission before use of our images for flyers, posters, etc. We reserve the right to refuse a request.

In summary please remember - all we ask is for you to link back to our Flickr set or Flickr pages. Taking the photographs and preparing them for online posting does take a significant effort. We are not posting photographs to Flickr for commercial reasons. If you really like what we do please spread the link around, send us an email, leave a comment beside the photographs, send us a Flickr email, etc.

If you would like to contribute something for your photograph(s)?

Some people offer payment for our photographs. We do not charge for these photographs. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would pay for their purchase from other photographic providers we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:

►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera

►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set

►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone

►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Don't like your photograph here?

That's OK! We understand!

If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

I want to tell people about these great photographs!

Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

Bad timing, but i still got a photo of the pair in appauling conditions.
