This is a photograph from the finish of the 6th annual Kinnegad 5KM Road Race and Fun Run 2015 which was held in the town of Kinnegad, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 8th July 2015 at 20:00. This race has firmly estbalished itself on the local race calender and yet again the race got wonderful support from local clubs and runners. The race is flat and fast and takes runners on traffic free route which includes 3KM on the local road 'Boreen Bradach'. The finish is on the famous main street of Kinnegad in front of Harry's Hotel. Over 200 people took part and the results by Premier Timing Systems are available here [www.premiertimingsystems.ie/]. The race is organised by Coralstown Kinnegad GAA Club with proceeds from the race going towards the development of the club.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. I see hardly any pictures on Flickr taken from the far/left side of Chittenango Falls. I think it might be because in the summer or late spring leaves witll obscure most of the falls from there. When all the leaves are off the trees over there I think it would look unattractively bleak. But now, with just those nice-looking Beech trees showing their leaves, I liked the way it looked from over there.
Unfortunately some of the leaves are blurred by the strong winds that blew the whole time.
I was assigned to shoot a high school golf tournament for West Hawaii Today this morning. Shooting a golf tournament is about as exciting as watching my toenail polish dry.
While sitting in my little cart, I decided to test my timing by trying to capture a golf ball being struck off a tee.
This was the first of four attempts. I missed capturing the ball in the other three.
If you look closely you can see the bending of the tee.
When I logged on to Amazon to check the price of an item, this banner ad was at the top of the page. It's for a dystopian sci-fi series. However, the imagery is chilling in light of the recent bigotry in the public sphere.

This is the module that determines what speed the shutter fires at. normally the spindles get gunked up with stuff over a period of 20+ yrs. Allot of times just taking this out and letting it soak overnight in Naptha (lighter fluid) will eat away the gunk to get it working. This is as far as you should dis-assemble this piece. If you use "NyOil" for lubrication, ONLY the tips of the spindles need lubrication. Not the gears. Only the shaft tips.
I saw this bike moving up pretty fast in the inside lane so I tried to anticipate him and got this. My little pocket camera is notoriously slow on the release so you need about twenty minutes lead time. Oh well. On a positive note, I didn't have any pictures of May Trucking Co. 18-wheelers.

The last sunset of the festival was concording perfectly with the last song of 5 day of festival full power... no better timing. The sun got out of the cloud to say bye bye for a last time!... then AFTER PARTY!
I carried my camera with me for two days in Turku and didn't take a single photo. The I decided to take advantage of the beautiful sky, and bang, in swims a swan. Timing is everything. Two bad I only had my wide angle lense with me...

Working with a new camera it's hard to get everything right straight away. I forgot I'd set the shutter to timer and moved the camera to see why it didn't shoot when I pressed the shutter! Still, I quite like the effect I got.

Tips on Flight Photography:
Many people have asked me about Bird In Flight shots. Here's some of my humble experience:
1: You need a SLR camera for better results. P&S is OK too as long as you can set your timing on the camera.
2: Set you timing to a minimum of 1/1000".(The smaller the bird, the faster speed you'll need.)
3. Invest $1.50 on some cheesies(good color for easy focus and you can also eat'em while you're shooting) and go to find one seagull near water. Don't worry, they'll all come once you start the feeding.
4:Throw the cheesie on the water, FOCUS ON THE CHEESIE, and you will get results like these in minutes.
5.Wear a hat in case of droppings.
6. Wear running shoes in case you have to run when there are more than 100 of them.(Don't forget to grab the cheesies.)
Once you've master the seagulls, then you can move on to ducks and geese in flights.
This is a photograph from the Tom Brennan Memorial New Years Day 2014 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held in the Phoenix Park, Dublin City, Ireland on Wednesday January 1st 2014 at 12:00. The race is promoted and organised by the Liffey Valley Athletic Club. The race starts and finishes on Furze Road off Chesterfield Avenue. The route takes a right handed loop around by Ordnance Survey Road and back onto Chesterfield Avenue. The long straight from Chesterfield Avenue to the finish on Furze Road always provides a very exciting finish as runners battle for places and times. There was rather horrible conditions in the hours leading up to the race with heavy rain and wind. However the weather changed for the better and the race took place in clear, bright, dry conditions. However, the breeze remained and made for some tough stretches for participants on the looped course. About 450 people took part in the event.
This race event is part of the Dublin Lord Mayor's "5 Alive Challenge" (see www.dublinsport.ie/5alive/)

Right in the center folks!
YES, that's right, there he is hiding the very shirt that saved my life on the morning of 9-11-2001! After staying in the Villiage until 2am on the morning of 9-11, I returned to Staten Island & stayed awake meticulously sewing every last diamond button onto that Boy Scout shirt into the wee hours of 11 September 2001. After all, there was this photo op to do!
Consequently, oversleeping, I missed my normal boat. It was the one which would've placed me walking past the WTC @ precisely time of first plane impact. Instead, was on the boat in the middle of the NYC Harbour when the second plane swooped down 100ft overhead.
Thank you to PJ, to the organisers of this original photoshoot & most importantly, THANK YOU TO FASHION - Can now say fashion actually saved my life!
