A Red-bellied woodpecker...
For several years we have fed the local birds by leaving suet out on our balcony. It is a delightful past time that is shared by many and it is a timeless activity.
It is a joy to learn more about the local wildlife as I encounter them in detail. Once I had a picture in hand I was able to identify this bird as a Red-Bellied Woodpecker. I thought it was interesting to learn how extensively this woodpecker's habitat is throughout the United States.

The Two Worlds Fountain was created by Halle artist Bernd Göbel in 2004 as part of the redevelopment of the Entenplan. The name derives from its meaning, the connection between nature and civilisation. The bronze water feature consists of two merging pipes from which the water gushes. The fountain itself is decorated with many details and quotations, all of which have a historical connection to Merseburg or the church behind it: The design of the fountain is timeless, leaves plenty of room for interpretation and integrates itself into the relaxed atmosphere of the Entenplan, in the foreground of St Maximus Main Church. In addition to Bernd Göbel, other artists involved in the realisation were Christoph Traub, Johannes Traub and Markus Traub.

Historical city maps and photos clearly show that today's spacious square was densely built up before the bombing raids of the Second World War. The Entenplan was a fairly small square stretching from the junction of Gotthardstraße, where the large commercial building with the striking gable still stands, to the church of St Maximus. This in turn was surrounded by narrow streets or alleyways. Only on the south side was there also the market, separated from the church by the aforementioned alley and a row of houses. The centre of today's Entenplan square was occupied by a densely built-up urban quarter. The current design was realised in the early 2000s.
There's such a gentle murk in the colours of a late hazy day. Sleepy shades of yellow-orange, and a sense that time has no real hurry. Down at the rush of Burntcoat Head, the tide divides a sandstone shore from an isolated island, with a current so swift you wouldn't dare venture in. Stick around long enough, and you can walk right over. We waited a while till our time ran out, picking rocks to mark and watch revealed in a drop that hurried past, though not fast enough for us. Somehow in the rush of life, we were here once before nine years ago. A detour on the long road home from Cape Breton — rolling in at sunset all alone, no one to share it with. Today felt somehow timelessly in touch with then. Love is like a tidal bore, breezing by in the back of my brain. Never did connect with the notion of letting memories slip away.

“I have Loved you for a Thousand Years…
And I will Love you for a Thousand more”
This song sung by Christina Perry is not only beautiful and haunting, it has the power to transport one to a different place and time where love is Forever … Eternal. And age old love stories are written in books that are stained with the elements of time.
This mixed media necklace combines leather, metal, stained lace, stained paper, rusted mesh, clay and paint. It also has a vintage barrel key and blood red Garnet attached to the end of a 14 inch chain extension which you can wear it in the front.
This piece took me many hours to construct as each page is lovingly burned by incense and fashioned in a way that the burned hole in the middle of the page tapers towards a blood red heart. I have also included little features like miniature music notes, miniature love letters and miniature dictionary excerpts in between the stained blank pages.
* The mini book measures 40 mm x 30 mm, with a thickness of 20 mm
* The necklace is approximately 17 inches with a 14 inch extension which is a feature on its own

Active Assignment Weekly August Challenge: Timeless
The challenge is to capture something that can be titled "timeless" The more symbolic you get the better.
Restrictions: Not just a scenery - has to include a person
Dare: No dare - I think the restriction is enough.
WIT: A tough assignment. The definition of timeless is hard to pin down. This is a shot I took early in August and came back to it as the submission for the month. The timeless nature of youth is the concept I settled on, along with what should be the never ending sense of curiosity in people. Photographed in early morning sunlight along a lake shore. Heavily processed in Lightroom. There wasnt much detail in the background to begin with so the highlight and softening effect easily removed it. Also, not my kid.
