Some might shy away from photographing well-known locations, but I’ve never felt that way. While I love the thrill of discovering new perspectives and fresh compositions, there’s a reason the classics remain timeless—they’re simply breathtaking.
Photography isn’t about rules—it’s about capturing what speaks to you. Whether it’s a hidden gem or a well-known vista, embrace the scenes that inspire you.

Sat Siri Akal,
The truth that is beyond time and space.
True Identity is beyond everyday life.
This Truth is very subtle and it is immortal
It exists here and now, it is beyond death, it is pure Light.

Porte de l’Arsenal, Aigues Mortes, Gard, Languedoc-Roussillon, France
The fortified city of Aigues-Mortes was built in the 13th century on the order of Saint Louis to provide the kingdom of France with a port on the Mediterranean. The complex consists of 1,634 metres of ramparts flanked by twenty towers and one of the most splendid keeps in the architectural style of the Middle Ages, the tower of Constance, which was used as a prison for Protestants from the Cévennes region from 1685.

Sydney
A virtually timeless scene, as the Pressnitztalbahn does so well at recreating with its authentic locomotives and rolling stock. The magic ingredient of course, is a quiet road! On 1st May 2008, Saxon-Meyer 99 1542-2 departs from Schlössel with a May Day Steinbach to Jöhstadt service on a remarkably quiet day for a Bank Holiday. The structure and associated out-buildings to the right of the locomotive's chimney have since been demolished.

A scene that is virtually timeless from the DDR era; Preßnitztalbahn 'Saxon-Meyer' No.99 1590-1 lays a smoke screen across the historic Schlössel Mill as it rolls into the station on a wet 2nd May 2008.

- www.kevin-palmer.com - With fall off to such a cloudy start, I felt like I had to take advantage of the few hours of clear skies on this night. I ended up in a remote part of Montana, where the deer and coyotes vastly outnumber people. The dot on the map labeled Kirby is a ghost town. I couldn't find any information on what this old wooden building used to be. Perhaps it was a school, or a post office, or a general store. Or maybe it's better not to know, which makes it more mysterious. Frosty overgrown grass surrounded the leaning walls and crooked windows. The light from a distant ranch house (the only one in the area) was just enough to cast a warm glow on the front of the building.

Sunset in the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
This image was a happy accident. As the Serengeti is a National Park all safari vehicles have to be back in camp by sunset. Due to some technical problems with one of our vehicles we had to drive slowly and therefore arrived late in the Serengeti NP. When the sun was setting over the acacia tree, our driver stopped briefly so that we all could take in this scene. The bird flying into the sun was a bonus which I had not noticed in the field.
Thank you to everybody who viewed and commented on my photo. I really appreciate the support.
The Church in Buoir Iceland, one of the most beautiful places that I've had the pleasure to visit. This is a well photographed location and for good reason! It seemed appropriate to post on Christmas.

Processing notes: I was originally planning to post this in color but out of curiosity, I thought I'd see what it would look like in B&W. It was then that I noticed that, minus the color, there's not much in the shot that gives away what time period it was taken.
A bit of research reveals that the hill shown has been a popular tobogganing spot for generation after generation since 1911. With a little soft-focus, sepia tone and an antiquish texture, I think the scene could easily pass for a hundred years ago.
In the age of SmartPhones, the Internet and computer gaming, it seems some things remain timeless.
