Last summer during a visit to the Vatican Museums, I took few pictures. Much later, while looking through the shots, I realised that this girl in red accidentally (or not) ended up in many frames

So, here she is. In the middle.

I often think of my older lenses as photographic time machines, marvelling that those who designed and assembled them could never have imagined their rebirthing in a digital world. Here are two of my older ones, a 1952 CZJ Biotar (from which the Helios 44 range was derived) and the classic Trioplan 100 from Meyer-Optik Görlitz (1960-65). Photographed with an E. Ludwig Meritar 50/2.9 (1949-68 with Exakta mount), but with a 2014 Raynox close-up attachment.

Not 100% Star Wars, but it’s pretty close! I’m really enjoying midi-scale, just finishing the Republic Gunship instructions they’ll be up soon (rebrickable.com/users/ron_mcphatty/mocs/) and then I’ll start on Revan’s ride.

The Boxtrolls are full of excitement! They love the Delorean from Back to the Future just as much as I do.

The Flag Building also referred to as the Super Power Building is the largest building in Clearwater, Florida. It is owned by the Church of Scientology and was built principally to deliver the Super Power Rundown, a high-level Scientology training course intended to train Scientologists to use what Scientology describes as all of their 57 "perceptics" or senses. The interior of the building contains training suites, course rooms, theaters, and various devices intended to test these "perceptics," including a "time machine", an anti-gravity simulator, an "infinite" pit, and a pain station.

The complex occupies a city block at 215 South Fort Harrison Avenue. It includes a 15-story tower topped by a bronze Scientology cross visible from much of Clearwater. Construction began in 1998, was halted in 2003, and was ultimately resumed to reach substantial completion during 2011. The long delay in construction led to substantial fines being levied by the city authorities. The building is valued at $80 million and at least $145 million was raised by Church fundraising towards the project. The church denies accusations that the Flag Building's completion was deliberately delayed so that it could serve as a cash cow.[citation needed]

The Church of Scientology announced in August 2013 that the building would be opened to the public on October 6, 2013, with a dedication ceremony that the church estimated would attract approximately 10,000 Scientologists. However, a month later it emerged that the Church had canceled the ceremony and postponed the opening of the building. The building finally opened on November 17, 2013.

At 127,000 square feet (11,800 m2), the building is the largest property in Clearwater. It was originally budgeted to cost $24 million, but the cost has more than doubled to an estimated $50 million after repeated redesigns of the interior. According to the building plans, the Super Power Building will feature a grand lobby lined with sculptures depicting aspects of Scientology; theaters for training and introductory films; a museum honoring the Sea Org; and a separate museum honoring Scientology's founder, L. Ron Hubbard. The sixth floor will house an indoor running track for Scientologists undergoing the Purification Rundown detoxification program.

The Mediterranean Revival-style building will also contain a bookstore, a library, and hundreds of course and study rooms; with a total of 889 rooms, 447 windows, and 42 bathrooms, plus a 1,140-seat dining room and two kitchens. A 124-foot (38 m) bridge connects the Super Power Building to the Scientology-owned Fort Harrison Hotel on the other side of S. Fort Harrison Avenue.[1] In January 2012, Tony Ortega of the Village Voice published leaked blueprints of the Super Power Building that revealed architectural features including a recreation of a deck on the Apollo, L. Ron Hubbard's flagship in the 1960s.

The building is 16th Century and the statue is later and a few years back got vandalised with the head being damaged. The head was remodelled and the culprit was sorted. I hate art being attacked even if I don’t agree with the concept. I’ll give you an example that although I care very much about the climate I genuinely hate art being attacked in art gallery’s in support of their concerns. They have valid concerns but why attack art which upset the most creative people in our society.

This is the last of the expired B&W Polaroid for the moment. I'm still not convinced it was worth the exorbitant money it cost, but it's been fun playing with a photographic time machine!

Yes.... When you slide behind the wheel of the new Packard, a world of adventure awaits around every corner. Who knows what you will discover?

Happy Halloween from the one24thscale guys.

To celebrate the occasion, we have not one but three unlikely yarns to spin. For starters, sort of an appetizer, we visit an alternate timeline when Packard Motor Cars featured a dinosaur as part of the 1949 advertising campaign. Having a dinosaur mascot worked for a certain company that sells gasoline. Then again, putting dinosaurs in your gas tank may be a better advertising image than driving a dinosaur down the road.

What other possible explanations for this scene might there be?

You may recall our old friends Clem and Floyd. They are always working on some new scheme to make extra cash or just mess with the tourists.

Well, Clem has a rich Uncle who owned a Hollywood tourist attraction with some fairly realistic looking animatronic dinosaurs. Uncle Colin was tired of cleaning up after the tourists and offered the entire menagerie to Clem if he would come and haul the stuff away. Naturally, Floyd and Clem imagine they will make money where Uncle Colin could not.

While they try to find a location that will draw the tourists in, the boys have been having some fun with a Triceratops costume that came with the robot dinosaurs. They have been forcing a couple of the farm hands to wear the costume and hang out somewhere an unsuspecting traveler is certain to pass. Soon as they hear some car or truck screeching to a halt on the gravel road, they scoot behind a handy tractor or out building and slip out of the costume before the passer-by can get a clear image. If Clem and Floyd can get these sightings to go viral on social media, they expect the tourists will flock to their dinosaur park. Meanwhile, folks in town get a kick outta hearing the shocked visitors try to explain what they saw. The town folks respond with mischief in their hearts, "You say you saw a dinosaur? Was it talking to Big Foot?"

Next; It was a love affair that spanned the eons.

Ain't love strange? You just never know when an unlikely pair will fall for each other at first glance. That's how it was when Floyd's prize Longhorn Bull cast his eyes on the new woman in the herd. We suspect he was impressed with her three horns. The whole county is excited, imaging what the calves will end up looking like. Will they favor Mom or Dad?

Oh... how did we end up with a Triceratops in the herd? Oh, yeah... of course. As you know, the one24thscale guys have a time machine. We were off shooting images of abandoned buildings and some intern, who shall remain nameless, borrowed the keys to the time machine and guess who followed him home...

1949 Packard is 1/18th scale and made by BOS (Best of Show)

The Fordson tractor is 1/16th scale and made by Ertl and modified by Larry Patchett

This is a forced perspective photograph of a die-cast model car and tractor in front of a real background, with a model of a longhorn bull and a triceratops thrown in for good measure.
