Una altra imatge per al meu àlbum d'homenatges musicals, en aquest cas a la banda MUSE amb la seva cançó "Time is running out". Crec que la foto ho diu tot.
Another picture to my album of Music Homage, with the band MUSE and their song "Time is running out". I think the photo talks by itself.
On the 20th anniversary of the Exxon Valdez disaster people conscience called for a formal ban on tanker traffic through BC's Inside Passage.
ETA: all possible protest must be made against the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline to Kitimat that will almost certainly have a major spill at some point. Kinder-Morgan wants to expand their pipeline through southern BC and that must be stopped as well.
FutureFest in Victoria. Part of the Global Day of Climate Action. We need to get back to 350ppm of CO2 ASAP!
Too much water waste in such a heavy flow. Most of it flows away without providing any actual cleaning. Even worse, too many people wash with hot water (more energy waste) which is only rarely necessary (for very greasy or freezing hands).
I find it much more effective to use a trickle of water which encourages me to scrub for longer because it takes more time and more rubbing to get the suds completely rinsed off.
BTW another pet peeve of mine is the suggestion that hand washing dishes is less eco-friendly than a dishwashing machine. BS! That's only true if you hand wash dishes the stupid way: under a non-stop blast of water. I put 2-4L of hot water in a dish pan and use another 1-2L cold water for rinsing which is a lot less than the 15-30L of water used by modern dish washers.
Copyright 2009 Lenore Swystun (right) Candidate for Mayor of Saskatoon maintains a small carbon footprint by riding here bike. She says that when she was on Council, the others would laugh at her when she would show up for meetings on her bicycle.
Lenore is shown participating in The Saskatoon Event for the World Action Day on Climate Change: 350.
Fort Saskatchewan is known as "upgrader alley" for all its tar sands upgrader plants. The area is also known as "cancer alley" because disease rates are going up.
One sort-of valid argument that can be made for building more of these plants is that we shouldn't be sending raw bitumen south for upgrading because that means a lot of lost opportunities to create jobs and keep money in Canada. Also we should be willing to shoulder the cancer costs by refining here instead of exporting cancer to other locations. Of course, a better idea would be to invest a tonne of money in renewable energy so we need less tar sands oil (and its pollution) and we create a lot of Canadian jobs that people can be proud of.
Ask Premier Redford and Resource Minister Oliver to attend the Healing Walk 2013 in the Tar Sands.
This is what Bill Gates and Warren Buffet came up to see and their reaction was that it was "neat".
WTF???!11!!!!
It's an environmental disaster that will probably kill off many of the people that they try to save with mosquito netting and anti-retroviral drugs.

Fort MacMurray to Fort Chipewyan
Sb700 speedlight, bare, camera left. Ttl, with 2 stops underexposed. Another sb700 bare, bounced off the wall directly behind camera. Manual, 1/32 exposure to slightly fill in shadows. Shutter was dragged to slow some natural window light in. Window was camera left. Evening shot(clock time is correct 😁)
Reflection of the old glass windows is from the speed light. The lantern on the floor was not on, as it is an led with an ugly color. Lantern "light" added in post. Slight burning of the corners, and a texture overlay to "age" the walls. Color balance was set to render colors as true to life. Kelvin white balance at 6250k.
If families did this a couple times a year I wouldn't have a problem with it but far too many people serve their kids lunches like this almost daily. Crap like this just trains kids to go for convenience over real food and then losing time to interact with life.
On the 20th anniversary of the Exxon Valdez disaster people conscience called for a formal ban on tanker traffic through BC's Inside Passage. MP Gary Lunn has failed in his duty to bring this about and that's partly why we gave him the boot in 2011.
I think I'm drowning
asphyxiated
I wanna break this spell
that you've created
you're something beautiful
a contradiction
I wanna play the game
I want the friction
you will be the death of me
you will be the death of me
bury it
I won't let you bury it
I won't let you smother it
I won't let you murder it
our time is running out
our time is running out
you can't push it underground
you can't stop it screaming out
I wanted freedom
bound and restricted
I tried to give you up
but I'm addicted
now that you know I'm trapped sense of elation
you'd never dream of
breaking this fixation
you will squeeze the life out of me
bury it
I won't let you bury it
I won't let you smother it
I won't let you murder it
our time is running out
our time is running out
you can't push it underground
you can't stop it screaming out
how did it come to this?
ooooohh
you will suck the life out of me
bury it
I won't let you bury it
I won't let you smother it
I won't let you murder it
our time is running out
our time is running out
you can't push it underground
you can't stop it screaming out
How did it come to this?
ooooohh

I have to get my cross-marking to a colleague by Thursday at the latest but I'm really struggling to get through it. Arrgh! "I think I'm drowning..."

Stephen Harper loves his oil buddies' profits more than his own children:

You'd think this would be banned because it is so irritating to eyes and lungs on top of the usual pollution. It also remove nutrients from the soil increasing reliance on artificial fertilizers that use large amounts of fossil fuels and contribute greatly to global warming.
People concerned about living under high voltage lines would have trouble finding a home in the Kantou plain. It's important to consider also how we bring this on ourselves by living such an energy intensive life. At least in Japan they don't sprawl everywhere like in North America so their lives are much more energy efficient in many ways.
Harper! Quit stalling. CLIMATE JUSTICE NOW!
URGENT: There is a big civil disobedience happening Oct 22nd, 2012. Be there at the Victoria Legislature Buildings to stop the Enbridge pipeline and increased tanker traffic!

My apartment door before I applied weatherstripping. Japanese buildings are rarely properly insulated. The door was metal as well and let all the heat out. Every winter morning my apartment would be down to 5 degrees or colder. My heating bills were typically half that of my friends because I didn't insist on heating rooms I wasn't in or leave the heater running after I went to bed.
Why there aren't better building codes, I don't know.
I have not had short hair since I was six but I felt the need to make a big visual statement. I cut off my hair today as a symbol of grief and mourning for the loss of humanity among the Canadian government and negotiators. The Harper government continues to wage a shameless war on the environment and everyone who isn't a rich Conservative supporter.
My little man - he is not doing so well. He and I live at the vet.
Time is running out for my sweet baby. He is a sick little kitty.
Rally at the office of big-league Conservative staller Gary Lunn as the Copenhagen talks neared the end. It was absolutely disgusting to hear Harper say afterwards that he thought the Copenhagen 'Accord' was good (because it meant he could weasel out of real action for a while longer).
I was too busy this weekend working on my 8-page linguistics paper (about the letter R...) to realize that finals are really sneaking up on me! Within the next week and a half, I have six exams and two papers due! HOLY CRAP! How am I going to finish everything???
While making biology flashcards today, I decided to make a sanity flashcard. No matter how panicked I get, I'll have to remain calm.

ETA: Enbridge was title sponsor of the 2011 Ride to Conquer Cancer. What a load of B.S. I encourage you to tell the BC Cancer Foundation that you will not support them if they choose to associate with such a toxic industry that not only causes cancer but also promotes climate change that will kill millions of people.
Imagine if we would come together to #BendTheCurve of climate change the way we are coming together to deal with #CoViD-19.

ETA: My hair no longer looks like a hack job, we had a marginally better deal in Cancun, and expectations are fairly low for Durban. The climate and civilization are in greater danger than ever and we still aren't doing enough on the grand scale. On the bright side green progressive groups are getting better and better at figuring out what to do. We just need the moral gumption to stand up to the status quo.
Recycling is very important especially for things like aluminum cans where it uses 95% less energy than production of new material. However we must never forget that it is even more important to reduce our consumption of stuff in general.
"La gente di solito si rifugia nel futuro per sfuggire alle proprie sofferenze. Traccia una linea immaginaria sulla traiettoria del tempo, al di là della quale le sue sofferenze di oggi cessano di esistere. Il tempo umano non ruota in cerchio, ma avanza veloce in linea retta. È per questo che l'uomo non può essere felice, perché la felicità è desiderio di ripetizione."
