A fun little fact for you guys is that David actually photographed me for the first time at the Melbourne Camera Club in 2002 - just over 22 years ago now. We couldn't have known then that we'd continue to work together for what has become literally decades later but Dave tells me I'm one of the only people he has shot repeatedly for 20+ years. I'll find a photo from our shoot back then but in the meantime, enjoy this new one from a few weeks' ago :)
Saturday night at the Silk City Diner on Spring Garden Street. For anyone wondering where the name came from -- The diner car was built in 1952 by the Paterson Dining Company in Paterson, New Jersey. At the time, the city of Paterson was home to a thriving silk manufacturing industry and was nicknamed the “Silk City”, so the diner car came to be nicknamed a “Silk City Diner.” In 1954, the diner car was installed at its present location next to a cocktail lounge at 5th and Spring Garden Streets. It has been serving up brunch, dinner, and live music ever since!

Just in time : Headed to Cape Spear early in the day to see what all this fuss was about an iceberg being grounded there. The fog had just went out and there she was, in all her mass and glory. I took a few shots from the tripod, had taken the camera off to get a few people shots and then I heard some cracking and banking, then SPLASH. She was breaking up. I swung around and managed to get this one shot hand held. I was hoping she'd roll, but no luck. Just a few car size pieces breaking off. What a site it would be to see it when it happens. About 10 min later the fog came back, and people started showing up asking where the ice berg was. Ya couldn't see the hand in front of your face, well it wasn't that bad, but it was time to head back.
The union jack bulldog is Royal Doulton "Jack" from the James Bond film "Skyfall", the other pottery is Poole Pottery. Don't look too closely as they need dusting !!
