There's a time to live
And a time to die
There's a time to laugh
And a time to cry
There's a time for war
And a time for peace
There's a hand to hold
In the worst of times
In the worst of things...
Memorial for the Cherry Mine Disaster in tiny Cherry,IL. The 1909 disaster stands as the 3rd worst mining accident in US history-259 men and boys lost their lives that day. Many of them are buried in the cemetery of this tiny central Illinois town in the shadow of the large tailings mound from the long defunct coal mine. The mound still turns red in the fall when the foliage dies away as if bleeding for the souls lost there...
History of the disaster here...
'I'm hoping that we get along.
It's time for innovation,
It's time for us to make a change.
It's time for a Chinese new year,
It's time for me to make a way.'

It was the least I could do for him."
Cletus: *Thinking* "One good swing...just one good swing."
I worked on cleaning out toys, books, and furniture that has been loved and is now ready to move on to storage or to bless others. It was bittersweet to linger in sorting doll clothes, play-food, dr. kits, learn to read books and young childhood toys. So, I decided to play a little with the toys before they move on and I do too.

As always was a pleasure to visit and enjoy the geishas company. I was lucky because their events are when I'm working, so yesterday I couldn't lose the chance.
Here with the lovely Toshiha. I think this time I drank too much sake.

For just a few minutes each and everyday we are truly blessed. Set your internal clock so not to miss a single one and to appreciate what your eyes see before them. Feel the beauty as this world keeps spinnin' 'round.
I very recently uploaded a similar photo to this one in B&W which was unexpectedly enthused over by more than one of my Flickr friends (thank you!). I wanted to upload this one too which captures the scene in more detail and is in colour, albeit in tones of colours which I hope capture the period from which this country house kitchen is dated (1940s/1950s?). I like the B&W photo very much but I think I prefer the composition of this shot. I'll let you decide. :-)

This image is one of a series of five or six photographs, and both images in each diptych were all taken within half an hour of each other, the only difference being the length of exposure time.

Another photograph from my trip to NYC for Flickr20under20. After spending our time in the MoMA, admiring the works of extraordinary artists such as Vincent Van Gogh and Matisse (just to name a couple), Madeline and I decided we'd use the last moments of daylight to dance in the streets of New York and take pictures. It's something I've always wanted to do and it'll be a memory I'll treasure forever. I ended up snapping this picture of Madeline while we were waiting to cross the road.
This week has been quite tough, as my family and I sadly had to say goodbye to our dog Max. We've now lost both Cinta and Max this year, which has left our family incomplete. I miss them very dearly and think of them everyday <3
I'll be sharing photographs from my NYC trip as well as other photographs over the next month or so. If you head on over to my blog, you'll be able to see photographs from the most recent wedding I shot. I hope you've all been well.
When a sunset doesn't go quite to plan, take time a stop a have a little "Quiet Time" you'll be surprised what you can find. I love the softness and simplicity of this shot, no heavy colours just subtle ones and some haze thrown in for good measure.
If you like this, why not "like" my page and follow my outings through the lens.
- The last exposure before turning off the camera at Hvaler, southern coast of Norway.
Just finished with a series during sunset, I almost didn`t bother when finding this scene on the trail to my car. Well, I could not resist creating something special that night and one thing led to another.
It turned out to be one of my favorites during the whole night.

I'm pulling a bit this time with the Venice sunset. In typical fashion for me, my next effort will be minimalist...but I need an end to the crescendo.
For 123 Pictures in 2023 #1 "Once u[on a time" -
Once upon a time there were three bowls of posole. One was very hot, one was too mild, and one was just right. So I ate all three.
Posole is a stew of pork, chile, and corn kernels that have been soaked in an alkaline solution (this would be the actual posole). The name is an Aztec word for this type of corn, and the dish's origins go back to the Aztec empire. Now it is commonly served in the American Southwest, particularly New Mexico, where this recipe comes from. For me it is a New Years Day tradition. The ingredients are pork tenderloin, onion, canned hominy (the modern version of posole kernels), three types of red chile, cumin, oregano, and chicken stock.
Photographed through a window pane in a decoration shop, in which an old-style street lamp is reflected.

visiting the grave of a friend at an old hidden jewish emetery in the Taunus montains - and enjoying life and spring around this wonderful burial place...
Wolgang Lauinger was persecuted during Nazi times due to jewish roots, and persecuted in early post-war Germany as a homosexual man... and he fighted for full rehabilitation - which he did not receive! - and for equal human rights up to his biblical age of 99.

Too bad I lost all my hebrew knowledge, which my mother taught me by Johann Gottfried Herders Book "The Spirit of Hebrew Poetry"... so I was not able to read or translate the wors on his burial stone.
Happy Fence Friday!!
HFF!!
Looking at the fence, I would say that these two have been using this fence for a long time..;)
It stopped raining and because my convertible leaks around the windows, I had to try to dry out the carpets today. I had a plastic cover over it but the wind must have been blowing hard enough to move the cover..;(
