Detail of ornamental painting

The first story commercial space of a new condominium high rise has just received a bright glossy finish of rectangular glass tiles. I thought this an interesting colorway applied randomly. The window washer will be able to also keep the facade of this one bright and shiny.

It's at least 500 years old.

The construction of the Mexuar was ordered by "Ismail" and later on restored by "Muhammad V".

At this room the Council of Ministers or "Sura" had their reunions and it was also used as waiting room when the sultan imparted justice.

This room has been reformed; at first it had two floors. From the second floor is where the sultan could see and watch everybody without being seen.

The floor we can now see was smaller in size, and at the north end there was a courtyard which led to the oratory. The reform was made under the rule of the Emperor Carlos V who used it as a chapel.

In the portico of a house built in 1908 as part of a series of 17 houses (nrs 133-165), all of which have identical tilework (on both sides of the porticos), except nr 145.

For a frontal view of two of the other porticos of this architectural unit, go to Rustenburgerstraat 161-163.

This is the Moravian Tile Works in Doylestown, Pa.

It such a cool, unique structure Although the fog gives the building a rather foreboding, ominous look, brighter light would reveal some pretty red Spanish tile roofing, and tile work around several of the chimneys and under some of the roof line.

I know I'll be back on a brighter day!

Here are several different views that I took as I walked around the outside.

Built in a Spanish mission style it has a great interior courtyard with an upper balcony accessible from the inside.

I took the last picture in the comments from up there.

Here is the link to the Tile Works website.

Tilework at the Palácio Nacional, Sintra, Portugal. See the resemblance?

I wish I'd noted the room and the date. The palace goes back to the 15th century but my wild guess for this room would be the 18th.

Tilework ("trencadis") by Josep Maria Jujol, longtime Gaudi collaborator. Very few of the park's visitors seemed to be paying any attention to it; the Park was just another "X" on their vapid checklists.
