I planted creeping thyme in front of one of my benches and along the stone steps approaching it so that the fragrance of thyme would be released whenever one walked on it. It also provides a carpet of tiny blossoms in the summer and this ethereal scene in the winter.
Last dinner on holiday with Rick and Rachel. Best restaurant on the island in my opinion. Works on the one menu a day plan. They offer a entree, main and a choice between 2 desserts or a cheese. Very fab. We got lucky with homemade smoked salmon salad, double cooked pork (which was everybit as ohmygod as you want pork to be) with fantastic broad beans and blue cheese.
Although all the snow got melted in the weekend, we got heavy rains Sunday night, then flurries by morning. Luckily it did not cool down earlier, we would have got 12 inches of snow - or even more.
As grass replacement, we have thyme in the front yard as groundcover.
season the chicken with thyme and lemon , place around cloves of garlic and bay leaves , pour oven some leftover Cava . Roast at 190deg for 45 mins per kilo and 30 mins extra . Allow to rest serve with new potatoes with extra thyme
Crowded thyme seedlings - planted really thickly because the seeds were from 2005 - they all sprouted though and now I have some thinning to do.
Vendors from a local herb farm set up at a weekly farmers market nearby. These folks sell dried herbs & spices as well as perennial plants. They also sell cookies and tea made from their herbs.
These lemon thyme cookies are absolutely delicious!!! Especially served with icey lemonade or flavored tea.
