A Woodland Kitchen Garden

www.rhs.org.uk/Shows-Events/Malvern-Spring-Gardening-Show...

An ornamental woodland setting of sweet chestnut and wild cherry underplanted with shade-loving perennials provides the backdrop for this rustic woodland kitchen garden. In the clearing a small canopy offers shelter, with boxes of herbs for cooking and a little vegetable garden. The wood-fired bread oven provides a focal point for sitting and eating.

All the features in this garden have been made from sustainable English woodland products and show how traditional crafts and materials can be used within a garden, helping to support our local woodlands.

Thyme at Rosemary in Gaansbaai

Thyme-leaved Speedwell Veronica serpyllifolia is less common than other speedwells. This perennial flowering plant is a member of the plantain family.

Yesterday's picture: the thyme plant that Steve bought a week or two ago. That was about the extent of my photo-taking ambition after work.

since I am such a bad gardener I let the thyme go into flower, but we have tons of honey bees in here. There are three in this shot, but there were at least 15 in about a 18" space while I was taking this picture.

Photos of Thyme-leaved Speedwell Veronica serpyllifolia. Can’t yet get flower fully in focus. This is weedy in my western Oregon garden.

It must be Thyme to move the Thyme. The silly stuff seems to grow really well on concrete blocks and similar things AND it chokes out almost everything that is in the same area but if I try to plant it on the hill I don't like to mow it dies. Fickle. I guess it doesn't have Thyme to help me out....

I grew thyme from seed, and while it took a while to get established, it got giant as you see in this picture. It was a success after all!

Images shot for my Negotiated Portfolio. I am shooting raw foods. These might not be the final images, I've not had much inspiration for this project.
