A Throwback Thursday special. Cruising to the Bahamas from Miami in 1962 at age 17. Yes, "Mad Men" is right, we dressed up for every occasion back then. Thus the sport coat.

my little girl just turned 5 today. I cannot believe how fast time flies!. I already gave up hope of having a child, but God really do work in mysterious ways. She came into our lives unexpectedly. And I am very thankful and blessed because I was given the oppurtunity to be a mom. Happy Birthday to you my Kulit. Mommy and Daddy loves you so much

Throwback Thursday at KU: Sixty-two Thanksgivings ago, tiny Burns, Kansas, began a grassroots diplomatic tradition that has won it a place in the hearts of KU students and alumni from around the world.

Each year, the rural community has welcomed KU international students to spend the holiday weekend with host families for turkey and fixings, hayrides, and low-key family activities.

The event, which has spread to as many as 50 communities, is called the Betty Grimwood Thanksgiving Homestay Program for a now-deceased Burns housewife. Grimwood and her Methodist church group friends convinced the small town of 294 residents, located about 140 miles southwest of KU, to initially host 10 KU foreign students in 1954.

The cultural exchange program has brought Burns a global reputation.

KU’s International Student Services office expects about as many participants as last year, when 39 students from 12 countries were hosted by 17 families in not only Burns, but also Lawrence, Lecompton, and Pleasant Valley, Missouri.

We hope all Jayhawks enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving, surrounded by family and friends.

#ThrowbackThursday to the time I went to Rio for Carnival. I love carnival season - Venice or Rio, and I have a bunch of other carnivals that I need to see and experience around the world. The hard part is - they all coincide at the same time each year, so it makes it very difficult to figure out where to go. That's a nice problem to have. :)

Throwback Thursday -- my first trip to Canada in 2004.

For Throwback Thursday. Early in 2013, we had our Siamese cat, Coco declawed. Here she is on my bed with her front paws still bandaged. (Posted on Facebook.)
