For Throwback Thursday. If Sunny, our Golden Retriever were still with us, today (May 10, 2018) would have been her 19th birthday. Here Sunny is at an obedience class in 1999, when she was only a few months old. Our daughter, Janette is in the picture with Sunny.

An early macro from the days when I was just starting to find my way in the land of tiny. I've re-processed the shot to match my current love affair with desaturated macros and find I'm much happier with it now.
It's always fun to go back a few years to see how styles change and what you used to do. I'm always shocked to see the improvements I've made with my photography because as each day passes it feels less and less like I'm improving.
I have to thank my contact Reggie Bishop for starting this set, it's been so refreshing and validating to compare the past to today.

It snowed maybe half an inch that year and it melted before the sun came up, but everyone completely lost it lol. Hopefully it won't be such a big deal when I move to Massachusetts! 💖
For our #ThrowBackThursday today, we're sharing a shot of some of the damage to the Washington National Cathedral in DC that resulted from the M5.8 earthquake that struck Virginia on August 23, 2011 (this photo was taken in Aug. 2011). The earthquake was felt by an estimated one-third of the U.S. population. Many people who felt the earthquake weren't sure what they were experiencing, initially, and as a result were not as prepared to drop, cover, and hold on like many in the western U.S. that experience more frequent earthquake events.
Recently, we updated the National Seismic Hazard Maps which show the eastern U.S. has the potential for larger and more damaging earthquakes than considered in previous maps and assessments due to the research from the 2011 event. Regardless of where you live, you should learn to be prepared to react appropriately in the event that you experience an earthquake. Learn more about earthquake preparedness before, during, and after an earthquake at: ready.gov/earthquakes.

This week we are going back thirty-one years to 1994, and to RA 194 parked on Burgh Quay, dressed for route 7.
Route 7 started operating between Dublin city centre and Ballybrack in 1979. In 1988 it reached Loughlinstown Park. From 2004 certain departures were extended to Cherrywood. However, in 2016 the 7 was split in two. Route 7 continued to operate to Cherrywood (although the terminus is at Brides Glen Luas stop), while services to Loughlinstown Park became route 7A. It has remained that way to this day.
RA 194 was new to Dublin Bus in 1994. When originally delivered it was designated RH 194, but was later reclassified as an RA to differentiate it from the RH Class due to some differences between the two. RA 194 was withdrawn in 2006, and sold on to an operator in the United Kingdom.
