The Saalfield Company published children's books and other products from 1899 to 1977 and was, at one time, one of the largest publishers of children's materials in the world.
Taken along Mana Road, Big Island, Hawaii.
I was actually sitting in my truck when I shot this. I'd been out of the truck, taking shots of these and other horses and cows, and as I was driving away, this friendly horse stuck his nose right in my open passenger-side window.

The Super Trees of Singapore reside in Gardens by the Bay. It’s a wonderful park, only a few years old, created where there was once ocean. It features more than a dozen of these massive man made trees, they are covered in orchids and climbers. I guess one day these bare branches with be covered on foliage, but for now it’s as close as I can find to an Autumn Tree after it’s leaves have fallen.

For my daughter, on the anniversary of her open heart surgery. Bob Marley's 'Three Little Birds' became the theme song of our journey, and I wanted to pay tribute to that with this piece. The birds are a little cartoon-y, but it is for a 1 year old.

Needles: 3 mm
This was going to be an awesome blanket like this one. After three squares I decided to make an awesome cowl instead. But I haven't totally abandoned the blanket idea – I'll just use thicker yarn and bigger needles for that.

I met Tommy while I was showing some friends around Wickford this morning. He was setting up for lunch at the Gardner's Wharf Seafood store.
I told him about the 100 Strangers project and he was very happy to tell me about himself. He is an actor who just moved to Rhode Island from New York. He and his partner, soon to be husband, moved to Coventry about a year ago and he has been in three production at the Ocean State Theater in Warwick.
Gardner’s Wharf Seafood is his father-in-law’s business and he is helping out on the weekend with their lunch business on the weekends.
I hope to see Tommy in one of the Ocean State Theater productions and around town.

I've now completed the three way shootout series (four parts) between the Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L II, EF 16-35mm f/4L IS, and Tamron SP 15-30mm f/2.8 VC USD. I have bought myself a number of books this past few days and I am really excited. But can't really start reading them, it's kind of hard holding it with one hand.

(CHICAGO, Illinois - 19-26 August, 2011) Veterans wounded in current campaigns, (OEF, OIF, OND, Gulf War) and those retirees of previous wars, participated in a three-day United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and World Sports Chicago training camp followed by the subsequent inaugural Olympic style 2011 Valor Games Midwest in Chicago, Illinois. The confidence and empowerment events sponsored by the Veteran's Administration, World Sports Chicago, USA Paralympics and the Support All Veterans Equally (S.A.V.E) organization embraced the capabilities of participants who at first glance, because of percieved disabilities ranging from severe traumatic brain injuries, loss of limbs, wheelchair confinement and other debilitating ailments are thought to be limited, by introducing them to events such as track & field, archery, winter biathlon challenges, rowing and water activity, to name a few, and Warriors who, like themselves, were stricken ill or injured during active duty. Focusing on existing self-determinations and reinforcing the military's esprit de corps. Jeanette Thompson, a wheelchair athlete and paralympian who was introduced to the throwing events at a USOC Paralympic Military Sports Camp in Rhode Island in 2009 and made a dramatic showing at the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships in Christchurch, New Zealand in January as a member of Team USA and placing first in several field events in 2010. She was also named 2010 Rookie of the Year in wheelchair basketball by the Augusta Bulldogs. Thompson said these events are an opportunity to be oneself without the misconception of limitations. "Since my injury the stigma associated with being (confined) to two-wheels has been fun to disprove," the gregarious retired Army non-commissioned officer explained. "Now (injured veterans) come together and feel the normalcy of being a team with commonalities, not restrictions, and look beyond societal restrictions and move forward to continue to proudly represent our country in other capacities."

Three young Texans who think they are the Cat's Meow before the ancient term became popular. Each man has a partially smoked cigarette in his hand. The man standing on the left with cane and uniform is a cadet in the Aggie Corps of cadets at Texas A&M college (now University) his cap bears the infantry bugle and the lettering A&M. The photo was taken around 1896. August to be precise. I know that because that date is written in old ink on the reverse. All three men are identified also. I'll have to do some research!

The annual three day working farm show is where the AETA harvest corn and beans with mid 1900's equipment, show the use , of horses for working a field, thresh oats or wheat, run a saw mill, plowing, baling, and demonstrate gas engines as they were used from the early to mid 1900's. The annual show gets bigger each year with over 400 tractors, over 100 garden tractors and hundreds of gas engines, plus other agricultural memorabilia on the grounds. Each year the AETA features a different brand of antique engine and/or tractor and this year we will feature The Lesser Known Tractors and Gas Engines.

Description : Imagine if pioneers, Batman, Swanston and Hoddle could magically reappear on the streets of modern Melbourne. This is the humorous notion the artist have taken for this group. Three bronze statues looking in wonderment and astonishment at the development of the city they helped build.

The commonly told legend of the Three Sisters is that three sisters (Meehni', 'Wimlah' and Gunnedoo') lived in the Jamison Valley as members of the Katoomba tribe. They fell in love with three men from a neighbouring tribe (the Nepean tribe), but marriage was forbidden by tribal law. The brothers were not happy to accept this law and so decided to use force to capture the three sisters. A major tribal battle ensued, and the sisters were turned to stone by an elder to protect them, but he was killed in the fighting and no one else could turn them back. This legend is claimed to be an Indigenous Australian Dreamtime legend. - Wikipedia
