This is my first Drawn Thread piece, and will certainly not be my last. I LOVED every minute of this, and was sad when I finished. I'm now a TDT addict, and have *cough* 10 more of their projects kitted up. :) This was stitched with the recommended NPI silks (1 over 2) on Antique Ivory Belfast linen.
this winter I wanted to build my own fly rod from scratch. start with selecting your rod blank (6wt 3pc), select your guides (black), select your thread color (purple) add other accessories if need be and BEGIN.
I found this little bunch of thread (along with some rick rack and bias tape) at Goodwill for $1. I love how colorful it all is together!
Start at the far right of left side of your project. You may want to measure and mark you rigid heddle loom with a 0 in the center of the heddle and mark each inch to the left and right of the zero. If you project is 10" in the heddle, start at the 5" mark on the right or left.
With the threading hook in your right or left hand, pull one set of threads (looks like a loop) through at a time. You are placing the threads in each slot of the loom.
After our viewing the archaeological sites of Moray, our driver stopped in the small town of Chincero on that same high elevation plateau (11,000’ plus) next to what was an obvious tourist stop giving a demonstration of yarn dyeing/weaving. We did find it interesting, and, yes, we did actually buy a couple of items.
There are so many species of "thread-waisted", it is difficult to specifically identify this one. Possibly a digger wasp.

April 4th, new red blazer purchased.
April 11th, walking to dinner in a windy chill, Megan: "Are you enjoying your new blazer with buttons?" Bean: "Yes, none of the buttons have yet fallen off in the first week that I've owned it." Megan: "I think all of the buttons fell off of my raincoat in the first week that I owned it."
April 12th, one of the buttons falls off of my blazer.
Installation in the stairwell, made in conjunction with the exhibition Threads of Feeling at the Foundling Museum. All the ribbons came from V V Rouleaux, the ribbon shop in Marylebone.
About the exhibition: "Threads of Feeling will showcase fabrics never shown before to illustrate the moment of parting as mothers left their babies at the original Foundling Hospital, which continues today as the children’s charity Coram.
"In the cases of more than 4,000 babies left between 1741 and 1760, a small object or token, usually a piece of fabric, was kept as an identifying record. The fabric was either provided by the mother or cut from the child’s clothing by the hospital's nurses. Attached to registration forms and bound up into ledgers, these pieces of fabric form the largest collection of everyday textiles surviving in Britain from the 18th Century."
The women of Xijiang dye their own thread, which they use for their ornate
embroidery. Here is some freshly-dyed thread hanging in front of the home
of the woman who just dyed it. Such beautiful and vivid colors!
Christmas packaged decorated with thread spool Christmas tree. Spools have scrapbook paper decoupaged onto them. They are held together end to end with wood glue. The sections are secured to the box lid with twine through small holes in the lid.
