These rather large threaded fasteners are stacked on a wooden pallet ready for use to assemble heat exchangers. Note the relative size of the can of soda pop in the upper left. The can has an approximate diameter of 2-5/8”. Also note the relative size of the length of these studs compared to the wooden pallet on which they sit!
Made of high strength alloy, the spec on these are generally listed as SA193 Grade B7 with SA194 Grade 2H nuts.
He, who every morning plans the transactions of the day, and follows that plan, carries a thread that will guide him through a labyrinth of the most busy life.

Thread winders
Box 95
Bridgeport 1, Conn.
I like these little thread winders designed to look like wooden spools. Set of 20 or so found in sewing box purchase at thrift store.
This piece by Mark Garry was seen at Tulca Festival Gallery, Galway. Made from wood, beads and thread, it's simplicity intrigued me.
and here's a pic 7 months on.. it's just as clear!
This is my first tattoo. Some people were a little worried at me choosing such a visable placement, but I knew i wanted to see it easily and for it to be a part of my daily life.
Flint the tattooist and I worked on the design together... I knew what I did and didn't want... and I needed a spiral in there of course! The thread color is a mix of my favorite shades by Guttermann and DMC, representing my love of machine sewing and hand embroidery.
I wanted the thread to be able to link to other work later if I choose, but to stand alone if I don't. Flint just plucked my vision out of my head! And I am so very pleased with it.
It is my permanent post it note that tells me 'if in doubt, sew'.
Needles Eye Tunnel was a bit scary to drive through. It felt like I was threading a needle. Needles Eye Tunnel is one of three tunnels located along the Needles Highway (South Dakota Highway 87) which is part of the Peter Norbeck Scenic Byway in Custer State Park, South Dakota. At 8'4" in width and 11'3" in height, this tunnel is the narrowest of the three tunnels along this highway. In fact, it is the narrowest tunnel in the state. If you find yourself in this part of South Dakota, do yourself a favor and take the time to explore this beautiful park.
Bored in Albuquerque, NM, while on a business trip, I found this sewing kit in my hotel room...
A sewing needle is a long slender tool with a pointed tip. The first needles were made of bone or wood; modern ones are manufactured from high carbon steel wire, nickel- or gold plated for corrosion resistance. The highest quality embroidery needles are made of platinum. Traditionally, needles have been kept in needle books or needle cases which have become an object of adornment.
A needle for hand sewing has a hole, called the eye, at the non-pointed end to carry thread or cord through the fabric after the pointed end pierces it. Hand sewing needles have different names depending on their purpose.
Needle size is denoted by a number on the packet. The convention for sizing is that the length and thickness of a needle increases as the size number decreases. For example, a size 1 needle will be thicker and longer, while a size 10 will be shorter and finer.

a very long and slightly frustrating day on another photographic project so something simple and colourful for tonight's 365 shot :)

I was trying to show my son how to use the macro lens, taking shots of ordinary objects. This one came out pretty cool, I thought.
3.5" green center is surrounded by pastel ruffles. Doily is 5.5" in diameter.
Cotton crochet thread #10 was used.
They can be used as coasters, candle doilies or under a small vase or trinket.
I took a 33 mile long dirt road from Blue Mesa Reservoir over Blue Mesa and down into Big Blue Creek, and I did not see another vehicle on the road. But I spent 15 minutes stuck in traffic--an enormous herd of sheep. I could not see the front of the herd, or the back of it--they just kept coming, streaming across the road. I finally lost my patience, and creeped forward toward the stream of sheep, and they parted around my vehicle.
I saw the shepherd's trailer, but the shepherd was not around. I was curious to know how many sheep were in the herd that seemed to have no beginning and no end.
As the sheep entered the spruce fir forest, they broke into a series of lines, and that is when "threads of wool" came to me.
Modern weaving machines use thousands of cords to lift the warp threads of the cloth such that a pattern emerges. The machine this picture was taken from shoots the weft thread using solely air!
66418 threads Ipswich station with 4R97 Felixstowe to Tilbury Freightliner service. In a confined space Ipswich is a very busy location with passing freight, loco movements and passenger workings.
Detail of a weaving machine in a factory in Belgium that produces the finest quality single thread woven fabric. Every thread is monitored with an electrical contact. The moment one of the thousands of threads breaks, the machine stops automatically.
All my threads, sorted into a rainbow. Hurrah!

My needle-working skills are minimal but just up to making a minor repair to this pair of trousers. I can see close-to very well but the needle threader helps to get the cotton through the eye of the needle.
This is not a screen applied to this photo. In this section of the V&A Museum, there are some metal threads attached from the ceiling to a structure underneath.
For 7DOS, unusual pov. Taken looking down at a folding colour chart (for embroidery threads) positioned on a mirror.
Made as an added extra for a swap from the scraps of the cushion I made for the PTS4.
Some thread sketching on top.
Sadly, I have seen no Thread-waisted wasps this year yet, so this photo from last year will have to suffice.

It took me months to locate a copy of this pattern for sale. It's a small leaflet called "Irish Crochet Heart Ornament". I think it's also in one of Annie's Attic's old bookmark booklets, shown with a ribbon woven down the middle of it somehow.
