Today's the first day of the new year, and I finally decided to do a 52-weeks project. I don't think I should start with a 365 right away; too complicated. :P
But I sure am going to try my best by posting a self portrait every week. I'm starting today as it is the first day of 2010, but I will be posting each monday, therefore at the beginning of the week. So something should be up on the 4th as well. :)
I'm actually very excited about it. It's a pretty long-term project, but I'll try my best!

I took this picture because of the cute shaped cloud...yeah, after the photo of Mount Clements where I see three dogs and a kitty, I'm sure you all think I'm just a little crazy!!

I think I used to get the big combo platter with the ribs, chicken and shrimp - but again, those prices seem to have risen sharply since we were last here. Eh, I can get shrimp anywhere, and technically that's not BBQ, so maybe this time, just the two BBQ meats. Same for the baked beans, I think I used to add them on, but I think this is still a lot of food, with the cornbread and the rice.
Here's my tip - when I can't decide between the BBQ chicken and the fried chicken (because they both have their merits...) I get the fried chicken for the coating, and just add BBQ sauce, it's the best of both worlds.

I think that I cannot preserve my health and spirits, unless I spend four hours a day at least--and it is commonly more than that--sauntering through the woods and over the hills and fields, absolutely free from all worldly engagements. You may safely say, A penny for your thoughts, or a thousand pounds. When sometimes I am reminded that the mechanics and shopkeepers stay in their shops not only all the forenoon, but all the afternoon too, sitting with crossed legs, so many of them--as if the legs were made to sit upon, and not to stand or walk upon--I think that they deserve some credit for not having all committed suicide long ago.

by Aretha Franklin:
Let's go back, let's go back, let's go way on back when
I didn't even know you, you came to me and too much you wouldn't take
I ain't no psychiatrist, I ain't no doctor with degree
It don't take too much high IQ's to see what you're doing to me
You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me
Yeah, think (think, think) let your mind go, let yourself be free
Oh freedom (freedom), freedom (freedom), freedom, yeah freedom
Freedom (freedom), freedom (freedom), freedom, ooh freedom
It's easier to stay out than it is to get out.

I think this is a Mangrove G but I'm open to correction. It was fossicking quickly all over this Casuarina tree. Hard to get a clear shot.
These birds are supposed to be common but I've rarely seen one.
After all, he had just jumped and crossed over to this side of the drainage ditch to avoid me in the first place. I didn't even know he was there at first, so these photos were just pure dumb luck.
I think these three jigsaws were probably cut by the same unknown master cutter.

Vintage Pears After School by Fred Morgan, 1893 Pears Annual, 2repl, Box with 1923 loan date (lower row, centre-right)
Details of After School, lower row & middle right)
Top Centre: Vintage 732pc The Hornpipe, 7pcmiss. This jigsaw was posted by Frances N and it is in a poor condition but well worth mending (it would be a sin not to restore it!). The edge pieces with their looping longarms, the wavy line with pointed oval-beads, the keyhole shapes with extra rings or haloes and the crosses all remind me of the other two jigsaws.
Top Right: Pears Vintage 693pc Macaroni by Sani, 1893 Pears Annual, 1repl (cut by laser), 23x19in. Crosses & linked Swastikas, the complex keyhole feature, and pointed ovals beaded on a dividing cut all make me think that this was the same cutter as that of Hornpipe. The dark, plain areas of the jigsaw showcase the glorious cutting. The jigsaw was bought from the same seller as After School. The box of this jigsaw is a plain brown cardboard with a small red-edged hand-written label (noting a lost piece).
