'I wish I was special
But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo.
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here.
I don't care if it hurts
I wanna have control
I wanna a perfect body
I wanna a perfect soul.'
Radiohead
I think I may have blown this out a little too much, but my 6yo liked it, and seeing as it's her picture... She has eczema under her lip at the moment (cold wind) and is quite self-conscious of it so I was lucky to get her photo.
Not much around to photograph at the moment. Busy day tomorrow (Friday) but hopefully off on a roadtrip on Saturday, so hoping for fresh inspiration then.
Painted with Autodesk Sketchbook Pro and Art Rage on an iPad with fingers and an Alupen. Textural effects achieved with Meritum Pro and some unused iPad art that I had lying around. Type drawing was used as a base for the text.

More scanned slides from my travels in South Africa in 1975.
My travelling companion and I hiked up Sani Pass as we didn't think our little hire car would get there. Unfortunately, we couldn't go into Lesotho as we hadn't taken our passports. However, we did get a lift down by some tourists in a 4WD.
I think I may have known at the time of my visit that Selzthal was a good place to see the last of the Class 1245 locos - built in the thirties - that then survived with Austrian Railways.
This location also doubled up as a lunch stop on a circular tour that I did in the area.
The final members of the class left OBB in 1995, three years after I saw 1245 533-3 at Selzthal. Last I heard it was used as a spares source at Saalfelden.

There are time to think and learn but not dwell. Those who want to change can change but if you let the mind win it will always pick self perseverance .

I think about you
Honey all the time
my heart says yes
I think about you
Deep inside I love you best
I think about you
You know you're the one I want
I think about you
Darlin' you're the only one
I think about you

Think your car is in this pic Curt! This would be Circa 80-82. Shoaf was the last operating mine and coking operation in southwestern Pa. The EPA had worrkied them to death over polution and they had taken major steps to remain compliant. I was not viewed as friendly wanting to take pix and this was as close as I could get as they became rather hostile before my departure, but it was after all only a couple years after the gov't had crawled all over them.
Photo's like this one and others in the photostream were part of the research I was doing to write an article for the Pennsylvania Railroad Technical and Historical Society about the connection of the PRR with the coal mining and coke production in the area and its transport to Pittsburgh. There were over two hundred coking and mining operations in the area and I was armed with county maps, memory and geological survey maps to explore.
On this dreary dull cold day in early December I thought a little pink cheer would be nice. It's hard to believe that only about 5 weeks ago I was standing in a big garden plot of cosmos.
First of 32 designs.
A low tech staple of besieged Visgard rebels. While by no means able to stand toe-to-toe with superior semi-automatic rifles used by Suppression Forces, it is better than no gun, and holds its own grand in rural skirmishes.

Astrantia is an old plant name and as the flower is star shaped it is believed that the Greek word astron, meaning star, may be the origin of the name.

I was trying to think of a clever movie quote for here, but I got nothing......
For FGR: Pride & Prejudice & Zombies
I bought this necklace for Flickr. I quite like it. Me and Madison picked it up while thrift store shopping. I love a good bargin.
I have never watched a scary movie in my life, I hate them I do not like to be scared. I did see The Ring in the theater, I went to see Jackass but it was sold out. That movie freaked me out. Not Jackass, The Ring.
There's also bushes with white flowers like this. Not quite sure, but I think they're Honeysuckle. They're wild and grow down by the river!!! :)

I think most of the local birds are busy setting up housekeeping for the winter. Only a few are out and about.
It's supposed to go below freezing tonight, and the weather report for the next week looks like we're in for a lot of sub-freezing minutes if not hours. I just set up a heated bird bath in my front yard the day before yesterday, which means that If the temperature dips below forty degrees F., I'm either going to have some well-watered birds or some electrocuted birds on my hands.
Your visit is much appreciated. I hope you'll stop by again --if for no other reason than to see if your prayers for my birds got positive results.

Post from a month ago introducing Waylon www.flickr.com/photos/kaymaguire/4001770902/
Waylon is improving slowly, he is very nervous and has been badly beaten in the past with the result that some of his teeth were broken but also leaving him extremely nervous as you can imagine. He has stomach problems due to being malnourished for some time. He is very energetic and such a good soul - hopefully with some time and care he will improve:-)
I think it's a wolf spider Lycosidae. Possibly Trochosa sp. but please let me know if you know better!
Body length: 6-7 mm
When I first spotted this spider it had its legs spread out and several dew drops had accumulated along the legs and abdomen. As I approached it was disturbed and pulled its legs in, which caused dew drops to merge into one encapsulating almost the entire body of the spider. After some vain attempts at getting rid of the water the spider remained still long enough for me to shoot a couple of stacking sequences though each time interrupted by some sudden flinching movements which caused the spider to gradually loose its grip and eventually fall to the ground and run away. It doesn't take much anthropomorphising to imagine that this isn't isn't the preferred way for a spider to begin its day :)
Stacked from 25 natural light exposures in Zerene Stacker.
Adding another stack of this spider in the comments.

“What I really think stands out the most is when you go to a launch and you see people who have never seen one before. Some people get so emotional, they cry. It’s so energizing to see people get that excited.
For me, every single time we launch a rocket —whether it be a sounding rocket or something as big as an Antares rocket or anything in between — all the hard work and long hours, all that leading up to it… you kind of forget it as soon as you see that emotion that people are experiencing.
I always think about that as I drive home at night: “Do you know how many people we made happy today?” And so I think that is important — no matter what we do here, whether it’s my job or the test director’s or the administrator’s or all points in between — everybody’s got something to contribute.
You ask little kids what their big dream is, and it’s not uncommon to hear “astronaut.” It’s not uncommon to hear they want to fly in a spaceship. That’s not uncommon. But we’re doing that. We’re making dreams for people." NASA Wallops Flight Facility Public Affairs Specialist, Rebecca Hudson, Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020 at Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia.
